It’s gotten harder to let the magic smoke out of computer components these days
The only one to really watch out for are the USB connections (motherboard pins to front case ports), as you can end up frying whatever you plug into the ports… However, most cases that aren’t complete rubbish will have them keyed properly.
I’ve only seen once or twice where each pair of pins for the USB was a separate connector the same as the ones you posted above instead of a single unit for all. Someone put them in the wrong order and fried the customer’s USB hard drive.
Must be pre-USB3 I assume…very odd with USB2 even…
Exactly. Like I said, “rubbish cases”
I’m still cringing
At least your new mobo came with a nice picture… mine didnt and i had to google the mobo to see where what had to go. my mobo itself only showed where the HDD LED should go
Please tell me who the manufacturer is so I can add them to my “Don’t buy” list
And the dentist is over, half my face is numb, my tongue as well.
Also cleaned the house and now to sort out my cupboard. Awaiting the parentals to get home.
It was an ASRock Mobo and the little booklet that came with was not much help
Thank goodness, ASRock is already on my “avoid” list
This is why I just tell them not to bother freezing…
Happened to me as well some time ago. Even made a thread about it! As per suggestion from several people here, a nice multiplayer game brought me back. And that game was Destiny 2… I’ve been stuck on the game since beginning of the year.
Maybe try some shorter games or genres you don’t usually play?
Exactly that. Try different things, somewhere at some point it will just click again.
3 hours later…
/the world waits with baited breath/
David Attenborough voiceover : In a few short moments we will see what FriedPet has masterfully crafted over the last few hours
I honestly head it in his old, creaky voice. I’ve watched too many of his documentaries.
Took quite a while to clean my case. Got rid of all the dust and spiderwebs. There’s a lot of sticky gunk on the outside of my case that I tried to remove. Tried to. Used different substances, and found that sodium hypochlorite works best to remove it, but even then it still required a lot of elbow grease, and unfortunately I ran out of that… Damn. Gunky case will remain gunky for now. At least it is dust-free.
It seems to be working!
I’m now busy installing all the software I need. It’s frustrating how some can only install on your C:, it doesn’t even ask to change directory. Trying to install as little as possible on my SSD.
Whoot small holiday now To get my flat in order
