Hope you all made your mark yesterday.
We spent 27 minutes at the polling station. From stopping the car to getting back in an leaving. And the committee where we voted were SUPER friendly!!
Morning everyone. It’s always so great to start the day by being blamed for someone else’s shit work.
That is a kak way to start the morning…

Yay for ACC200
At least I feel a little more human
It does wonders. I was sick for about 2 weeks but it saved me.
I’m glad to say that since yesterday I’ve been feeling healthy again.
My biggest issue is I have zero concentration so I am struggling to study
Do we want an election thread?
Currently I am just tracking the Western Cape and National results
Im also watching it on News24 as it updates…
Pissing me off is all it is doing
And the numbers could be a LOT stronger against the ANC if people did not vote for the smaller parties…
And I KNOW that the DA is JUST as corrupt, but CoCT is starting to do well under them, and voting the smaller parties just spreads the vote out more which means the ANC get the majority again…
It is frustrating!
What is for lunch today…?
Cucumber and a little bit of droe wors and my smoothie
We want people to vote for the smaller parties, it takes seats away from the anc
I am following on here:
SA voting system explained:
The Proportional Representation voting system in SA means that every vote counts and none are wastes.
How does it work?:
10 people vote.
6 vote ruling party and 4 votes for the official opposition party.
The ruling party will get 6 out of 10 votes which is 60% of the seats in parliament and the official opposition will get 4 out of 10 votes which is 40% of the seats.
If 14 people go to vote the sum looks like this:
6 people have voted for the ruling party,
4 people for the opposition party,
2 people for the “New” party,
1 person for the “Just another” party
and 1 person for the “vote for me” party.
NOW the ruling party only gets 6 out of 13 votes which means they only get 46% of the seats.
The official opposition gets 4 out of 13 votes which is 30% of the seats.
The “New” party gets 2 out of 13 which is 15%,
the “Just another” and the “vote for me” party each get 1 out of 13 which gives them 7.6% each.
The “other” “smaller” parties actually REDUCE the ruling party majority and strengthen the opposition.
IF YOU DO NOT VOTE YOU ACTUALLY STRENGTHEN THE MAJORITY PARTY
Vote for the party that shares your beliefs and principles or find something in at least one party you can support
If only the ANC and the DA votes were counted in 2014 the ANC would have had 73.65% of the seats and the DA 26.34%.
However because a further 2 873 992 people voted for OTHER parties the ANC only received 62.15% of the seats.
NO VOTES ARE WASTED, not even those who did not get seats as they are counted in order to determine the % of seats a party will get.
Don`t believe your vote does not matter, every vote counts.
If each person brings a person who did not vote last election or get a person to change their vote so this election can change the political landscape of South Africa. If you want change then you need to vote and get someone else to vote.
