The future has been looking bleak for a long time, but people make a living regardless. I must say I’m very skeptical about Gauteng after living in Cape Town for a mere 2 months. It really does feel like a different country.

That said, I’m still cautious when driving, still look over my shoulder in malls and I’m even more alert when walking down the road to the beach. I would never have walked outside the bounds of our estate in Gauteng, so experiencing the “outside world” is a bit of a culture shock for us. Yes, we might be over cautious and -protective of our baby, but we’ve been violent crime free because of it. We’ve been pick-pocketed, experienced break-ins while on holiday, had a car break-in, etc, but we haven’t been confronted with criminals before, thankfully.

The only Canadian TV worth watching (that I recall) is the Red Green Show

Ja this is probably one of the biggest reasons i dont want to have kids of my own. if i have kids it would mean i would have to move, i dont want them to have to experience a violent crime.

I really love this country despite all its shortcomings. And it is possible to live here “relatively” crime free if you are cautious. By relatively crime free i mean by having you card cloned or you phone stolen etc.
Some would say that is not a way to live but it is the reality. There are places where it is far worse to live but equally there are also places that are far better to live.

this country has sooo much potential and it is up to us to be the change we want to see. We cant expect everything to be solved overnight. All of us need to do our part. Be that educating someone less fortunate than you, giving the guy at the robot 5 bucks for a meal etc. No good deed ever goes unanswered, it may just not be the answer you were looking for.

Is it just me or is MyBroadband incredibly slow today? It takes quite a while to load for me.

I thought it was my connection in Taiwan that was giving problems. Probably a DDoS attack.

We still haven’t been paid yet. And normally the people with Standard Bank get their money a day before the rest of us and they haven’t gotten anything yet. Not cool.
