In recent years, we’ve seen a movement to dismantle sexism in our society by throwing off the chains of patriarchy. Now, I’m not a big-time activist but I wanted to do my part. So, I decided to implement changes in the only place I could—my own home.
I realized I’d been guilty of hogging roles traditionally assigned to men. One of those roles was mowing the lawn. So, I relegated that honor to my wife, Grace. I’ll admit it was a little weird seeing her pushing the heavy lawnmower around the yard as I watched TV while sipping a La Croix, but I knew I was doing the right thing. Sadly, I encountered resistance from my own mother, who wasn’t impressed when she heard of the new arrangement. “Why is Grace mowing the lawn?!” she asked. Sigh. It’s sad to see your own mother so trapped by patriarchal thinking.
I did feel a twinge of guilt one day when I saw the Amazon lady struggling to lug a heavy box to my door. I thought of helping her, but then realized I’d only be reinforcing my male privilege by doing so. I called Grace to haul the package inside the house. Again, I felt a little guilty, but no one said change would be easy.
The patriarchy is not going to smash itself.

Hahaha oh wow at that point i would have started to build the wall if it ever looked like that.
and yes our wall was finally finished. Wont be making use of that contractor ever again.
