New Community Creator made Regional Asset Packs are launching next week. 8 regional destinations to be released every two weeks.

Explore 8 regions, Curated by Community, Free on PDX mods

Pack your bags and take a trip with us! Introducing eight free region packs, designed and developed by some of our very talented community creators.

Inspired by the architectural look of various iconic Cities Around The World, the region packs feature a variety of stunning assets - from new zones to iconic signature buildings and new service buildings, allowing you to add a touch of regional character to your cities. Each pack is unique depending on the creators behind it, with different types of assets and sizes, each capturing the architectural spirit of regions from across the globe.

All eight region packs will be free to download from Paradox Mods.

First three are France (28 October), Germany (11 November), and the UK (25 November). The other regions getting packs are USA North East, USA South West, Eastern Europe, China, and Japan. Their release dates haven’t been announced yet.

So this is still very much looking like it should be an early access title. What is the the current state of the game like for your guys and your opinions?

I see it’s delayed indefinitely for Xbox release.

Recently found Jetjunky’s channel which he uses to showcase his real-world city builds, which he starts out from a historical point and then builds through to modern times. He has completed a build of Durban and has recently started one for Cape Town too.

Here’s the first video in each of the build playlists:

hahahahaha it seems our recommendations are aligned and I don’t even sub to these types of channels. Me and the family have been watching the Cape Town one and finding it quite informative. Thanks for sharing.

Quite a drastic change for Cities Skylines. Paradox is changing developers from Colossal Order to Iceflake.

An Update on Cities: Skylines II | Paradox Interactive Forums

This means the Cities: Skylines franchise will move to a new developer, and we’re pleased to announce that Iceflake Studios will be taking the lead. Based in Tampere, Finland, Iceflake Studios is one of Paradox Interactive’s internal management game studios and is hard at work getting into the nuts and bolts of Cities: Skylines II. Specifically, Iceflake will take over all existing and future development for Cities: Skylines II, including free updates for the current version, continuous work on the Editor and console editions, as well as future expansions and content packs. This means that Cities players will be able to look forward to new updates and content drops for many years.

Colossal Order will implement a few additional updates before leaving, including the Bike Patch, which includes the long-awaited addition of bikes, Old Town buildings, bug fixes, and general improvements to the game. A Beta implementation of the asset support for the Editor, meaning access to Asset Mods, will also be available before year-end. Iceflake Studios will take the helm for all development from the start of 2026.

I don’t know if this is good or bad. CO grew Cities Skylines from inception. Unfortunately the sequel was a little botched at launch due to optimisation issues, but it’s nothing that can’t be resolved with time. And given the long legs of the first game, the sequel is bound to be relevant in 10 years from now after it’s been stabilised and expanded on. Giving it to a new dev team means the soul of the game will be lost.

I fear the same, but would love to be surprised. Happy to wait and see how things go with their first patch and DLC releases - been waiting patiently for CS II’s patches anyway, so no worries on that front.

Just a little concerned that Iceflake don’t really seem to have the credentials and structure to take it over so completely. Their most recent, and biggest, game so far looks to be the survival colony builder ā€œSurviving the Aftermathā€ from 4 years ago. There’s a handful of other older smaller games and some mobile games in their roster too, but nothing on the scale and scope of Cities Skylines.

I wonder if CO are releasing any of their team to Iceflake to help maintain some continuity and knowledge transfer?
