How are your guys fields being affected? You guys working?
@FarligOpptreden @czc
Waiting for decisions to be made by others. I could work.
Are you working now?
At this moment? No. Weāre playing cards against humanity. Come onto discord and join.
Didnāt mean literally right NOW
@CrONus yup. From the beginning.
I hope banks and companies step up now with some proper relief for people. Has anyone had any sort of anything to benefit them, like a payment holiday from somewhere? Because there seems to be a lot of talk about it but I havenāt seen any of it yet. Iāve gotten lots of emails from places with the subject something about them being there for their customers, but all the emails say are that they have their own staff working remotely still able to answer queries. Gets my hopes up every time.
As @Donisia said, no pay for April for many. So what now.
Password? I have no idea what im doing

Just realized I have never played this game before

Weāre doing okay, because we build software. Weāve got some good contracts in place and we mostly deal in industries that didnāt down tools during the lockdown. Our biggest challenge was arranging remote work at clients that we were working from pretty much permanently. But we managed to make plans for those clients, including the one I work from full time.
Still, the stress of knowing that we need to pay 40+ people at the end of April in such an uncertain economy and world-wide disaster is quite literally gut-wrenching. At least weāve got enough funds banked for a month or 2 of absolutely zero income if it all comes tumbling down.
Oh, and as to the question of whether Iām working or not (I know it was aimed at @czc, but Iāll bite): a big yes. Iāve been billing 60+ hours per week for the past 4 months, including during the lockdown. Most of the team on my project are doing similar hours, some even more. Hell, my one dev even clocked 273 hours on his timesheet for Marchā¦
Well itās good to know youāre keeping busy - thankfully I have no one to pay but myself and 2 other people so I can imagine the burden that must be. And anyone whose ever paid a lot of people knows that feeling. But you guys seem geared for working remotely so thatās a positive? But like you said earlier, itās going to mean havoc. Devastation for a lot of people.
Yeah weāre keeping as positive as we can during it all. Iām even bullish enough to consider this an opportunity, as many business will now seek means of operating in a remote fashion and that means technology and software innovation. The dreadful exchange rate is also a blessing in disguise for our $-paying clients, as it means we get more bang for their buck.
The biggest concern is traditional, customer-facing businesses. My sister-in-law works for a legal firm that had to suspend many of their services and, with the extended lockdown, many of their staff might be facing retrenchment. Iām certain thatās the case in thousands of businesses and possibly hundreds of thousands of employees.
Damn, cant sleep. Just keep thinking, stuff is going to get much harder, esp for those already struggling.
There are these poor kids, they hardly het food during ānormalā times, my mother is in a group where they each sandwiches for the kids.
I wonder how they are getting fed now, in these times.
I have been working full steam (except for this week, took leave). The company I work for specialises in remote education and e-learning book readers with tools to help teachers add resources to those books, remotely. So this is a very busy time for us, thankfully.
My wife is a teacher and is now wondering if her school will continue paying her for an extended holiday. She has been teaching most days over zoom to the few kids that have the infrastructure to actually join her, but that is for 6-8 kids of the 28 she usually has in a classroom.
Day 15
21 days to go
I think i got my calculations right
A week in the life of a New Jersey paramedic - a photo diary from Time:
I just saw something interesting, the total number recovered has suddenly jumped to 410, but they donāt deduct that number from the total cases.
If you look at the trend on https://trackcorona.co.za/ you can see that the number of active cases has never gone over 2000 and since the new recovered number, has actually gone down. If the number of recovered keeps maintaining or increasing, wouldnāt it essentially āflatten the curveā?
This only happened today, so will keep an eye on that āActive casesā trend to see itās shape over time.
Edit. I see the first recovery was 17 days after the first case was recorded, so as much as the infections are exponential, wouldnāt the recoveries also be somewhat exponential also?
Just thinking out aloud hereā¦
You are right dude, its why this drama is driving me nuts - the fact that we have a higher recover rate than death rate is a bloody good thing but people just see deaths
I love this presentation from google tho
It makes more sense than some others out there
