The one intern here said it best - it feels like theyā€™re doing a prostate exam from the wrong end.

Yeah, myself and the whole familty fell ill a little while ago now. I think it was only seasonal flu or just a headcold. Either way it was more of a snotty-ill. My little one spiked to 38.2 but nothing some meds couldnā€™t help.

That being said, I donā€™t think it was COVID and didnā€™t see it necessary to get tested for it. Needless to say we seem to have all recovered and are doing well. Iā€™ll be praying for you and the family bud and wish you guys all the best along with a speedy recovery.

now thinking of the brain probe what happened in the days of Egypt when they had a hook on the one end to remove the brain

I hope I dont have to take the test I like keeping the locked away memories locked up

Thanks man. If it wasnā€™t for the fact that I had 3 workshops that I need to attend this week and 2 year-end functions next week, I wouldā€™ve passed up the test as just hunkered down at home for 2 weeks. But I need to know whether Iā€™m a risk for others around me, so thatā€™s why the wife and I decided to get tested today. We should have the results by lunch-time tomorrow.

Completely understandable and respectable. I trust that results will be negative.

Ai, good luck. If I need to get tested again, Iā€™ll refuse to do the nose test again. The did two tests on me when I got it: the nose and the throat where they just tickle your tonsils a bit, still uncomfortable but then it is over.
The nose test was worse than the covid itself because I couldnā€™t sleep properly for at least a week after that. I have insomnia as it is and I canā€™t sleep with my mouth open to breathe, so whenever my mouth closes, I would wake up from the discomfort of breathing through my nose. So one of the bad things about covid is that it makes you extremely tired and then combine that with not being able to sleep: hell.

That said, weā€™re all sick at the moment this side as well, but luckily just flu and infection that we got from the girls who in turn got it from their gran. It is much more uncomfortable than what covid was (worse symptoms), but obviously less serious and more treatable. Oh, and my wife still doesnā€™t have her smell and taste back since she got Covid in August, but they suspect the covid combined with the pregnancy could have something to do with that.

I keep forgetting #3 is on the way. Congrats again. And it mustā€™ve been terrible having COVID while being pregnant. Just the fear of having such a new, deadly virus in oneā€™s body while growing a little human insideā€¦

Regarding the nose test, it was uncomfortable, but I donā€™t have any lasting effects. If anything my sinuses felt more open afterwards.

Thanks. Well, we didnā€™t know. We thought it was just covid related. We only found out in September. Maybe he (or she) pop out already immune to covid
For what it is worth, our girls were only ill for maybe 2 days. This flu is now almost a week of hell.

I didnā€™t realize that it was the test at first. I thought it was pain from sinuses or whatever from the virus that was developing further. After a couple of days my wife reminded me that it was probably the test since it was only the one nostril. Could be that they used more force with mine.

So, results wereā€¦ negative! Wife and I are both clean. So itā€™s just this terrible, terrible flu-thing we have. Honestly the worst weā€™ve had in years.

I mean, I donā€™t want to celebrate that youā€™ve got a terrible flu, but glad to hear youā€™re not a 2020 stat!

A lot of has to do with the extreme pollen count experienced in the Cape this year - my doc said about 60% of the people have complained about the same fluthing but he thinks its a combination of flu and allergies - even if you normally dont have hayfever, the break in the drought means we have a very high pollen count and that its making our fluā€™s worse.

Im just happy you guys are negative!

Thanks @murfle and @Wyvern. At least Iā€™m almost recovered, but the wife is still quite sick. Sheā€™s pledged to take a day or 2 off and stay in bed from tomorrow.
