Haha not quite. Casual is super casual. Steering assist, braking assist, no friction on the gravel/off-track, reset to track, fewer options (DRS, ERS etc. all handled automatically). It’s really for people who’ve never played F1
In otherwords me!
F1 interested in offering simulation alternative to official game
Since Codies bought out Slightly Mad studios it makes sense that the guys behind Project Cars develop their tech and focus on upping the realism from their Project Cars games for an F1 realsim game.
Oof! I feel for the console peasants who have to pay 3 times the Steam price.
Disclaimer: I own a peasant box too, so no hating
Ouch. And frighteningly, that price for a physical copy is cheaper than digital via the MS/XB store:
Madness!
New vid from Codemasters - Hotlap: Monaco
A first look at the Hanoi Circuit with Charlie LC:
It still amazes me at how authentic this game looks. From the cars, to the tracks and even how it is “televised” makes it look and feel like you’re not just playing the game but also watching Formula 1.
That is actually one of the bigger distractions on the esport scene at the moment, in my opinion. It’s too hard to recognise corners from real life in the game, they should have the cameras at the same locations between game and real life.
Been playing some more F1 2018 and still loving it. I assume the tire wear is accelerated on shorter races, like when you have a 25% race?
Yep, they do wear faster. Although I’ve never had a race where I needed to take the hard compound. Mediums always seem to last long enough.

George Russell says he is surprised by the improvements Codemasters have made to how cars handle in F1 2020, the upcoming new edition of the official Formula 1 game.
Russell revealed on social media he was “shocked” by the improvements he felt in a version of F1 2020 he played recently. The will go on sale on July 10th.
“I’ve recently played the new F1 game and it was super-good,” said Russell in a conversation with Sergio Perez. “I was really surprised.”
Perez, who entered the F1 2019-based Virtual Grand Prix series for the first time last weekend, described the difficulties he had getting the car to turn the way he wanted it to in the previous game.
“It’s all in the downshifts,” said Russell. “You’ve got to use the downshifts at the right time. It’s so difficult in this game. But the new one is really good, none of this stupidness is there.”
You haven’t seen me driving yet George - I’ll find the stupidness, no matter how much they’ve improved it.
Coupe of new-ish videos out in the last week or so:

Split that screen!
Wow! I find that really intriguing as I don’t think there has been split screen in an F1 game in some time now, or I am mistaken (I also could just have missed that option).
But I think this could play really great into couch co-op when playing a Season or campaign between two people and racing in the same team. Interesting.
No, you’re right. Split screen hasn’t been an option in the F1 games for ages. Under correction, I think the last time it was in was 2011, maybe 2012? Definitely not in the last 5/6 years at least.
New for the 2020 edition of F1: The Game is the inclusion of Driver Ratings. Supposedly these ratings - given to all the F1 and F2 drivers in the game - are to help players select a team mate for their “My Team” career play throughs.
The ratings, which have been gradually revealed by Codemasters over the past few days, are “based on the drivers real-world abilities and performance”. The developers use 4 parameters - Experience, Racecraft, Awareness, and Pace - and an overall score to rank the drivers. And it’s there where the controversy is coming from.
Outside of Experience, the other 3 measures are seemingly problematic. Essentially Sports uses the Bottas rankings as an example:
According to Codemasters, Bottas has much higher Racecraft and Awareness when compared to both Ferrari drivers. The Finn outscore a 4 times World Champion and arguably one of the fastest drivers on the grid by some margin in terms of Awareness.
Adding everything, Bottas has a higher rating overall than Charles Leclerc and Sebastian Vettel. And fans were rightfully irate and took to social media to point out flaws and troll F1 for its controversial ranking system.
Charles Leclerc also joined in and gave his thoughts on the controversy. Speaking to his fans via Twitch, Leclerc said:
“I saw some. For me, some are not appropriate, not very well rated. Like, I think George was very low and his quick. If you put him in the right car, he is as quick as the best”
Russell has a low rating of 75, only beating the likes of Antonio Giovinazzi and his teammate Nicholas Latifi. Latifi is yet to start a race in F1, which only raises more questions on the Codemasters ranking system.
Objections notwithstanding, the Driver Rankings are here to stay, so here are the ones that have been revealed:
Something I haven’t been able to determine, but which I sincerely hope will happen, is whether the values change in relation to your career game and seasons progress.
