Was looking for some stuff about race weekends in the F1 games and stumbled across thisā€¦

Not a bad piece, and I may actually start a new ā€œlongā€ career side-by-side and just play this one when I have the urge. But I am really tempted to see how a full weekend and a 100% race pans out. And if you take it over a weekend, much like real life, it really doesnā€™t work out to be too long or tiring. At least we can pause eh

So I started a new career with a proper long weekend, full-length practice sessions, qualifying sessions and 100% race, initially just to muck about and this is what Iā€™m thinking:

  • OMGā€¦ where am I going to find the time to do all of this? ā€” to this, I am only restricting myself to do a full race, all laps, including formation. To that, I am finding so much more time during practise sessions to get familiar with the car, track and setup. I found myself spending a lot more time experimenting with different variables than I did when I was on a short weekend with only 15 minutes available to get familiar and to perform the objectives.

  • I have tried to assimilate a sense of realism while still maintaining enjoyment ā€” by doing this I have turned off such things as flashback, I mean cā€™mon, if a driver crashes or makes a mistake they are forced to correct rather than go back in time IRL. Along with that, I will always leave from the pits and never use a flying lap. With that being said I have allowed for a few liberties like auto pit assist, the hands get tired at times and this allows a little respite.

  • This is going to take a lot of time and concentration ā€” concentration and cognitive load can increase and become quite tiring, as a result, I am not forcing myself to see the entire Practice 1, 2 & 3, Qualifying 1, 2 & 3 and Race through to the end. I will allow myself to skip to another session when I am happy with my outcome or result and just fed up with that session :stuck_out_tongue:.

I must admit, I am intrigued and enticed to try and see this through an entire season as strategy plays a much more important role. It may take a while but I feel it would be worth it, and when you break it down over a full weekend, much like real F1, this becomes a lot more manageable. At least we can pause mid-race for a leak (of us, not the car) :stuck_out_tongue:

Thoughts and feedback are welcomed.

I have a bug now in F1 2020. I do one-shot qualifying and Iā€™m currently at the Netherlands. However itā€™s raining in qualifying but I canā€™t pick intermediate or wet tyres. My only options are soft and medium.

At least thereā€™s no limit on the amount of front wings you can use.

This sometimes happens when the game feels its raining but not enough to warrant inters. Thereā€™s always an option to switch to inters even in very dry conditions. When selecting a tire, you can switch between wet dry compounds by I I canā€™t remember the button, but there is a way. Iā€™ve had that myself in a few races, especially during changing weather

Thanks @DieGrootHammer, Iā€™ll have a look. Because itā€™s super slippery on the soft tyres.

And awesome @FarligOpptreden! I love these games.

F1 208 for free! (sorry, I see this has been posted in the free games topic  )

I wish they would make the UI (HUD) like that of F1 on television onboard camera, when in the TV pod camera mode. You know, the UI they show that runs along the halo, it looks awesome and so visible, instead of looking to the bottom right.

I see a new patch for F1 2020. Is that to update the tyre deg model?

Donā€™t know what the patch did but I ended up doing that qualifying in the rain on softs and did it so slowly and still qualified 6th. Ended the race in 6th. So it suddenly feels a lot easier or I suddenly got a lot better overnight.

The best change to the game is the bug where Jeff would suggest a new strategy that was either the same you are on now, or a 0 stop strategy. Made driving in races where it rained very difficult, and cost me a few places in many races.

Here is the full list of changes in the patch:

  • Keep Fighting Foundation DLC pack is now available (read more here!)
  • Addressed a crash when accessing mail resulting from changes within leagues
  • Addressed a crash that could be seen when spectating a multiplayer race
  • Splitscreen resolution has been increased
  • In splitscreen player two will no longer change the race strategy for player ones when editing their own
  • Player will no longer be offered an incorrect 0 stop strategy alternative during a race that requires a pit stop
  • Jeff will now give the correct Championship Standings information during a race
  • Brake boards are now present at turn 12 at Brazil
  • F1 cars use the players chosen number in multiplayer
  • Career modes will now progress correctly when Simulating races with Formation Lap turned on
  • Fixed a performance issue when running Steam in offline mode
  • In unranked others players will no longer be seen to be given points after failing to finish a race
  • Purple fastest lap times are now easier to read on the race results
  • Improvements to the item preview images so theyā€™re higher resolution
  • Glove textures have been improved under certain conditions on track where they were previously appearing lower resolution
  • Players will no longer be penalised for overtaking the safety car in a pit lane entrance or exit
  • Players can no longer overtake the safety car once it is ready to return to the pit lane
  • F2 sprint race grid will always correctly reflect the result from the feature race
  • Updated a number of F2 lap records
  • F2 Races in Vietnam are now the correct number of laps
  • If the player is eliminated in qualifying 1 parc ferme rules will now correctly apply
  • After a formation lap time gaps will now be shown correctly
  • Addressed an issue where all participants in a weekly event would not be awarded points
  • Nationality flag is now correctly displayed on Mercedes race suits
  • Various other stability and bug fixes

Iā€™m currently at Monaco and itā€™s raining. Itā€™s so difficult. Lowered the difficulty and Iā€™m still screwed.

Due to moving I skipped f12019 but bought f12020 yesterday.
I was browsing the store looking for a fps and saw it on special for Ā£38 on pay day.

I havenā€™t kept up with with the f1 series, just playing 2018 casually.

Initial impression of the home page had an ea feel to it, but then I remembered project cars 2 also had that grids on multiple screens theme.

I was pleasantly surprised that I could be a team principle and driver! Due to all the customisation I only finished fp1 in Australia.
My little car doesnā€™t have the same handling as f1 2018, itā€™s pretty cool as it does add some realism to the narrative that iā€™m just a start up company.
examples of the handling is the left right into the 3rd DRS zone, I end up with a lot of oversteer into that 2nd corner, as with the corner just before the pit entrance.
It was enjoyable adjusting my driving style to a new car.

Iā€™m really excited about this game.

I have Xbox live (sn0wbeast) if anybody wants to be friends with me lol

I started my F1 2019 career. Ended up with a first place in the last F2 race of the career and did my first practice lap in Australia. Handling is quite different to F1 2018, much easier

F1 2018 I was getting the hang of assists off. Iā€™m more into the story mode of 2020.
I just started WRC 8 and itā€™s not easy to transition between the two.
Dakar is mostly downloaded.
Enjoying the break from skyrim/Minecraft.
