Fitness Q&A

Just the standard sized bars with spinlocks would do. Then you can buy free weights whenever you need to increase the weight.

If you buy a set, half or more of what’s included won’t ever get used.

If you want to go cheap, fill old milk jugs with sand.

Not sure what exactly you mean by this?
Dumbells for any exercises?

Yip, what exercises and what weights.

Like, they seem pretty flexible not just for curls. But what is a reasonable progression of weights to use.

99% of all my ecercises consist out of dumbells.
There is not a single muscle group you can’t use dumbells for.

Presses, flys, curls, extensions, tons.

Fav still remains chest press, usually start with 50kg in a hand and try end on 60kg

So this okes videos started showing as suggestions and piqued my curiosity. I like his training philosophy and think I want to adapt some basic principles here and there.

I think I may start here:

Been watching his videos for a few years now. Pretty sure I posted some of his here in the past too.

I have been trying to sit in a squat for 2 minutes a day, sometimes I forget.

I also really want to start running again, I’ve settled for walking on the weekends at the moment.

Yeah, I like his idea of functional fitness. I am looking for some shoes to do that are hopefully sub R500. I’m not looking to do marathons or anything but over time I would like to lose my winter build up.

In the running videos he covers barefoot shoes. I’m not so sure what those are or where to look for them. Closest I can find are aqua shoes, same thing? :man_shrugging:

I’ve been putting in more time and km towards living a bit of a healthier lifestyle. I try to walk, run or hike for at least 30 minutes a day and I want to keep this up through the month of October.

Occasionally I’ll do a bit of a workout while out in nature, some lunges, push-ups, squats, Burpees, etc.

For those wanting to do something different to get in some exercise and who don’t enjoy the normal gym routine, try playng some Padel. Courts are popping up everywhere! Such a fun and social game

Funnily enough, I have been thinking about doing some physical exercise for the past few days. Low and behold this appears in my Inbox today:

I think I’m going to try this out. I have been far too passive lately.

October means it is that time of year again for our company and 30x30 challenge.

Today I had my second day of HIIT and I have already increased to 2 circuits.
