I hear it all day long! And my phone is not even with me! I might be getting a little obsessedā€¦

I would like a minor request tho - could we make the star say a red dwarf? I miss them sometimes cos they are all the same as the screen :stuck_out_tongue:

Thats not a bad ideaā€¦maybe even diff colors, like randomized? (if Master of Orion II taught me anything its that there are many different color stars  )

Also, mine is sometimes behind the grey bars at the top and bottom.

BUT this makes it even more rewarding when I find them. You know, proper star hunting!

Mine is there more often then not and hidden behind my tapping text

I fell asleep last night while playing the game. The soundtrack for it is just so calming

I know this is not @Entityā€™s fault, but DAMN!!! These ads are terrible! Oviously these are not regulated.

I saw an add for ā€œTwo Dotsā€. It looked like a cool puzzle game with swinging shapes around to form a bigger shape. Followed the link and its a game to match colour dots in a row. NOTHING like the game in the video ad!

And thatā€™s why you donā€™t download based on video ads

Iā€™m having odd issues with running some of the ads in the emulator. Curiously, and specifically, it seems to not like the South African ads that all seem to follow the same format and layout:

There was another one or two that were similar. No video plays, the countdown doesnā€™t start and the only way out is to ESC and take ā€œskip the videoā€.

This one for Discovery Bank was the worst though - I couldnā€™t get out of it at all and had to close the app and restart.

Also, got this one a good few times. Still have no idea what itā€™s for:

I think the trade off of watching an ad for an hourā€™s income is fair, just wonder if itā€™s worth limiting the number of times you can run a Boost ad somehow, or maybe putting it on a timer of some sort.

@Entity - how many ads do you need to have run in order to earn anything from them?

I just quickly scanned through the posts here, Iā€™ll answer properly later tonight, expect a wall of text, but I can say that most of what I saw is already in the plans list still to come.

Till later

I did just get a couple of the SA ads to run - Sanlam and the Discovery Bank one - so it must be something off with the emulator on my side.

Send them invoices for making their adds work.

I wanted that one to be slightly tricky to find. I also sometimes sit and think I see it but then itā€™s just one of the background stars. Some would say itā€™s cheeky how it first starts with just the small pixel dot, then only flashes a few times

There are plans to add many other ā€˜sky objectsā€™ including moving ones and ones to do with actual real world/space events. They should be/will be bigger.

This bonus star will get upgrades whereby you can increase the multiplier you get from it and also lower the time between it appearing so it should be a little tricky to catch.

So in short, Iā€™m not going to change this one, but there will be others.

That is a bug that I have on the list to look at to fix. I did put limits in for where itā€™s allowed to appear so it doesnā€™t appear under the button or right on the edge of the screen but it doesnā€™t seem to be working. In the grey bar Iā€™m ok with still. So I still need to look at that.

Your suggestion to fix that is on the list

On the list is for me to make the music loop seemlessly. Currently itā€™s just 2 songs that I mixed into each other but I need to make the end mix into the beginning. I did a whole writeup in the Trello on the issue Iā€™m having with it so it wonā€™t be a quick fix. Or I think it wonā€™t. Still need to look at it.

Yup thatā€™s the current trend happening in mobile ads. Misleading ads. There have been a few reports on itā€¦

Sorry that happened, I havenā€™t seen that yet. Yes it is probably caused by the ad or the emulator but as far as I can see thereā€™s no way for me to stop the ad or if Iā€™m allowed to do that. Not sure if Google would be happy giving that control away. The ad code is very basic and closed off, I just ask Google to load an ad, when itā€™s ready it sits there until I tell it to show. Then the code sits and waits for a callback from Google to say the ad was watched or cancelled. So Iā€™m not sure if thereā€™s anything I can do for that.

As you say maybe itā€™s something to do with the dimensions and such. I know you can change the resolution and DPI. Maybe ads donā€™t like certain dimensions.

Stop talking to yourselfā€¦ :stuck_out_tongue:

I missed this

I donā€™t really want to prevent anyone from watching ads if they want to, is there an issue Iā€™m not seeing here?

I actually have a plan to make a system whereby if you watch one ad you get 1 hourā€™s worth bonus, then if you watch another one within a certain time or without leaving the window, I donā€™t know yet, then youā€™ll get an extra 2 hours bonus, another one you get 3 hours, up until 5 or something, then if you keep going you get 5 hours every time. Something like that, I havenā€™t figured out the exact numbers yet. Thatā€™s just the idea.

As far as I can see I get 25 cents per watched ad. I donā€™t mind being open about this if anyone is interested.

I was actually going to ask that. I was also going to say (knowing I donā€™t necessarily know the end game or how many more different buildings there are to find) that the clicking nerf has made it way more grindy, and therefore the focus to actual progress now is to watch ads to FFW an hourā€¦so while I know its not the intention, it seems to have shifted towards watchAds2play. At my level it will take a few days of play (checking in every 2 hours to reset the production halt) to ā€œdouble upā€ my upgradeā€¦which is quickly making me lose interest now. As thatā€™s all im doingā€¦iā€™m not actively playing anymore, im just checking in and then buying whatever gets me the most buildings, as the next level up is too grindy for me (SKA)

Again, aware its an alpha/beta, hence giving feedback. For now the only reason to upgrade any building that isnā€™t the bottom-most one you CAN buy, is to increase your sky objects per second. the x2 bonus every 100 is not keeping up or making them relevant in the actual money making sense.

While I am not quite up to speed with the stats and the curves, I know clicker heroes employs a x4 multiplier every 25 and a x10 every 100 and that seems to at least flatten that curve a bit so that your earlier ones arenā€™t necessarily contributing 0.00% of your totalā€¦and even then they arenā€™t always the optimal one to buy.

Ignore if my advise is from a horse-blinkers perspective

Not at all. From my perspective I am just hugely appreciative and humbled that you, and everyone else, take the time out of your day to spend a minute trying out the game, nevermind actually provide feedback to it. If you had to tell me that youā€™ll never play the game again because of something, I would still appreciate it and take it as feedback and work on it. If everyone says that then well, I guess I must get out of the game making scene :stuck_out_tongue:

I also understand that the ā€˜visionā€™ or path I have in my head for the game is mostly based on what I like about idle games so itā€™s definitely skewed in that sense. I never wanted it to be a heavily active game and wanted it to lean more onto the idling aspect as all the idle games I play are like that, again my experiences shape things. The fact that before the nerf the tapping gave good payouts was a bug whereby that x25 multiplier was too strong because I actually struggled getting a good balance with the ratio. I decided to leave it in a bit for everyone to rip into a bit and saw some results of players doing some interesting ā€˜testingā€™ with it.

I understand the ad side of it might seem like itā€™s watchadstoplay but itā€™s suppose to be just an extra. I just wanted to add in 1 boost just to not have that ā€˜boosts coming soonā€™ there  Now that itā€™s there Iā€™m working on putting more upgrades and features in place, so for the moment it may seem like itā€™s slowing down, but even with the upgrades and things fully fleshed out, there will always be times where it slows down, thatā€™s where constant updates helps to change things up.

Regarding Clicker Heroes, they were one of the games I used as research for mine, to see how they did things, and I actually donā€™t enjoy it much. Not so much the functionality of it but I think I wasnā€™t fond of the style. I was however interested in their ā€˜artefactsā€™ system and that gave me the idea to use constellations in that regard, with a different twist. That will still come.

I used many games as research and also looked at a lot of ā€˜source codeā€™ to see how they did things. I used the basic formulas from Adventure Capitalist

and also read the code from the OG Cookie Clicker

So thank you again for all the feedback, keep it coming, good or bad

Not an issue with the idea of watching an ad for some sort of bonus at all. Just, like @Mottamort, that once I discovered that I could just chain an unlimited number of ads and get tons of money each time, thatā€™s pretty much all I did. I stopped virtually all my tapping (or clicking in my case), ignored the bonus stars, and wasnā€™t at all phased by the timers to earn my next purchase. I just ran another ad.

My other concern with it as it is at the moment is more to do with how Google Ads will react if it picks up so many ads being run from the same address in rapid succession. I remember there was a big hullabaloo about click farms being used to constantly refresh pages to run ads and click on ad links endlessly that Google eventually banned accounts because of it.

I donā€™t know. Maybe Iā€™m unduly concerned and things have changed since then, but Iā€™d hate for you to lose your ad account because of something similar.

Both of those are the reasons why I suggested some sort of time gap between allowing the next ad to be run though.
