Apparently it won’t stay in your library. So you need to download the game. As soon as you uninstall it it will disappear, so it wont stay “yours”.
Even the developer seems caught out by this:

Genshin Impact is free to play. It’s just newly released on the Epic Store. You probably get some freebies if you grab the Epic version
