MEW DiRT Rally League [MEWRL]

Lol same here, did it in the last hour and something of the event haha.

At the moment Iā€™m playing around quite a bit to see what is satisfyingā€¦

I definitely want to set up a season over October, November and December

Just need to figure out what tracks and events, etcā€¦

Iā€™m super open to suggestions.

So my current thoughts are :

  • Greece
  • Wales
  • Monaco
  • Hill Climb
  • Germany
  • Finland
  • Sweden
  • Hill Climb

Each Rally event lasting 2 weeks and each Hill Climb lasting 1 week. Which should cover ~3 Months

The real question is do we do 2000s/2010s, Group A, Group B, 60ā€™s, 70ā€™s or 80ā€™s? Or do we just pick a car like the Subaru Impreza WRX STI 2011 and we all compete with a single car?

I think a mix of different classes would be cool overall. But I like the idea of choosing a single car for one or two of the events so we all compete with the same vehicle.

It would be fun to do a RallyX at some stage too, but maybe we should just organise that in this thread, set an evening and join in then. It would be more casual which I think would work well for the RallyX format.

The loose issue with mixing classes (or completely open class) is that the 60ā€™s, 70ā€™s and 80ā€™s donā€™t really stand a chance, where the Group Bā€™s will just dominate in the right hands.

Like that schedule!! And I think the idea of us all using the same car is excellent. But maybe only on a per event basis, if thatā€™s possible?

Weā€™ve done Group Bs, so maybe pick a car per Rally event from GrpA, 60s, 70s, 80s, 00s and 10s, then one from each of the Hillclimb classes for those events?

Oh ya, I wouldnā€™t expect to mix classes together in an event, was thinking more Event 1 could be 60s, Event 2 70s etc.

That sounds like a fun procession to do.

So something like:

  • Greece - 60s
  • Wales - 70s
  • Monaco - 80s
  • Hill Climb
  • Germany - Group B
  • Finland - Group A
  • Sweden - 2000s
  • Hill Climb

???

So what Iā€™m thinking is :

For each event (using Wales as an example) :
Sprint (Pant Mawr)
Sprint (Bidno Moorland)
Long (reverse of the two sprints - Geufron Forest)
Sprint (Dyffryn Afon Reverse)
Sprint (Fferm Wynt Reverse)
Long (reverse of the two sprints - River Severn Valley)

Iā€™ll roll the dice on the Car selectionā€¦ Want to keep something special for the next season.

Looks good.

Where are you on the matter of restarts? Having no restarts definitely adds to the tension of a run, but then it can be a harsh, one simple slip up and thatā€™s it.

I thinkā€¦and this is a big thinkā€¦that you should be able to restart the event, but not retry individual stages of an event. In that, the run is a 6 stages and however youā€™ve done over that. You can redo the 6 stages, but thatā€™s it

So if you go Terminal on stage 6 you would have to redo all the previous stages?

Yes, at least thatā€™s my current thinking.

Cool. Is it possible to limit the amount of restarts?

No, unfortunately not. That would have been ideal though.

I like that idea, it actually gives you the of both worlds in the sense that you can redo the event if things go terribly on one stage, but you still have the pressure to get it right especially if youā€™re on a good run and donā€™t want to do it all over again.

For what itā€™s worth, I like the idea of all of us using the same car. As long as itā€™s 2010ā€™s!

And the only restart is for the entire event, not stages, seems fair to me too. That way I am forced to be more cautious, but it wont force me to rage quit when I crash on the first stage and my rally is entirely over.
