Jokes. Many hours of trouble-free gaming!

Did you need any extra cooling at all? Does the CPU come with a cooling fan, and is it any good at stock?

The stock cooler seems a bit weak yeah. I’m getting temps of up to 87 gaming flat out but it seems to hover around 80-84. I’m going to get a Corsair H100i Pro liquid cooling kit sometime in April, depending on when my brother comes to Bloem.

AIO knocks 20°C off the temperature, on an open-air testbench. That said, 87°C doesn’t thermal throttle either.

Still jelly of this

Keep typing out my specs, and then looking at the list, and it looks ridiculous.

Upgraded my CPU to a 6600k.
Now deciding whether SSD next or getting another 8gb ram or going for 16gb ram of the same brand.

Possible next step is new mobo and cpu and making the switch to Ryzen.

Graphics can take a back seat until prices come down

Upgraded my cpu to 5800x3d. Happy with the upgrade.

How big of an upgrade is it compared to the 3700x? And how much more power does it consume? I’m eyeing a similar upgrade…

Game play is smoother for me.

In terms of power consumption the 5800x3d consumes a bit more for multi thread work loads ±46 watts. At idle only 2 watts more and single threaded its even.

I recently went from a 2700X to a 5800X 3D. It’s noticeably better at delivering frames! It does seem to run hotter (by design, I believe), so I do need to check the fan curves on the cooler.
