We got it working for now, so yay! We had to untick and tick each other in the settings so that it refreshes. I cant game while she is gaming, and vice versa - before I could play whatever as long as its not the same game

As far as I can remember, if they’re playing anything, it will tell you “library in use”. and yea, you need to “refresh” it every now and then as mentioned above. glad you got it working though. But yea, the entire library is considered as 1 entity that you’re sharing :stuck_out_tongue:

Looking for reasonably priced cooling solutions suggestiions for an i7 9700K.

Anyone have a, or have had experience, with an Intel i7 9700K CPU? May be getting a 2nd hand one soon to replace my now “ancient”* Ryzen 7 1700, but I will need to find a decent cooler for it. And it’ll probably have to be an air cooler. Much as I’d love a nice quiet water cooler, I don’t think my budget or my case will be able to handle it.

* ancient in CPU tech terms

Don’t have a 9700K but online the Cooler Master Hyper 212 RGB Black Edition is apparently one of the best “budget” air coolers for it. Check some reviews before you decide.

Also, if your Ryzen 7 1700 is Ancient, then my 1st gen i7 920 must be Prehistoric :sauropod:

Okay, you win the Aged CPU Head-to-Head. My 6-year old got smashed by your prehistoric 14-year old! Kudos and bravo for keeping that old relic going still

The Hyper 212 is a good option. I had the previous non-RGB version with my 6600k and could happily run the i5 at 4.3Ghz with on average 60 degree temps.

With my Ryzen 3600 I’ve got the Scythe Fuma 2 which is great, and quiet. I see the B revision is now current one being sold - can highly recommend it, @aldyr also has a Fuma 2.

Hey, I still have my i7 860 with a hyper 212+ cooler. Although its looking a bit clogged with dust.

I’ll vouch for Scythe Fuma 2

It fits intel socket 1151, that a 9700k uses too. Since a Scythe Fuma 2 can handle an i9 9900k at somewhere between 70-75°C with stock clocks, a i7 9700k should be fine in the 60’s, I reckon.

Would this work?

+1 from me too.
Been running it for about 2-3 years, first on a 6th gen, now on a 12th gen. It wasn’t made to fit 12th gen, but with enough wangjangling, it somehow does. I even got some extra Scythe case fans, there’re great.

(sorry for late post)

that’s a bit sad, I have used a zyxel for various clients and they had good interfaces, did what we wanted, may I ask what features you were trying to use?

The NAT and firewall rules don’t work properly, I’m having to enter, delete, enter, delete, restart, enter, factory reset, enter, then maybe it decides to work.
And it was working just fine last week. Just seems very inconsistent. Maybe it’s this particular model, I don’t know, but I’m getting close to wanting to smash it into a thousand pieces.

Everything looks fine, I do see the firewall port ends in 9610 but the NAT port ends in 9609, but unless the firewall is deliberately forcing all traffic to 9610 it should be fine.

Is your ISP frogfoot by any chance? Only asking since I have had an issue with them in the past double- NAT’ing a network, making it so that port forwarding does not work.

As a troubleshooting step, perhaps completely disable the firewall, to see if there might not be something there, this will obviously allow all traffic, but it could give us a hint of where the problem might be, it it were to suddenly work.

Yup. I did have support issue with them earlier in the week, maybe they did something they weren’t supposed to…

I don’t think the 9610 would be a problem, I removed it from the NAT because I’m only using 9600-9609.

I’ll give it another try later on, always helps to see things again with a clear mind.

Is it safe to use electronics up until the power goes off, and let it go off with the power? i.e. watch TV, play games, etc.

I do switch off plugs once it has gone off until the power is restored.
