That might explain the rumour mill pointing to Esteban Ocon potentially getting a Renault drive next year. What a line-up that would be.
Iād have thought heād go into the World Endurance Championships with Porsche to be honest. That heāll go to Formula E with them instead makes sense - just never thought of it as an possibility.
Other than watching a little bit of the racing here and there, it really hasnāt taken off as a series to me, which I might need to look at changing maybe. Does anyone follow Formula E at all? Is it broadcast live anywhere?
Iāve never watched a Formula E race. Donāt even know what it looks like.
FP1 Classification
Silver and Red alternating in less than half a second. Interesting to see that the Mercs did all their running on Softs, the Ferraris all theirs on Mediums. Talk of the session, besides the heat, are the yellow sausage curbs on the outside of a number of the turns. Hulkenberg smashed the left of his front wing bring the session to a Red Flag ending a minute earlier than scheduled. He wasnāt the only one to pick up damage either.
Iāve seen some highlights footage on Youtube. The noise is unbearable. Itās this irritating high-pitched electric whine.
Ironically I have caught a few here and there. I canāt watch it due to the noise. Some times they live stream on Facebook
Short Red Flag period mid-way through Free Practice 2 as Verstappen loses the rear of his Red Bull into Turn 10.
Two minutes after restarted session, Bottas tries to correct an oversteer into Turn 6, snapped into heavy front end impact. Red Flagged the session again.
Both teams got some serious rebuilding to do overnight.
And 2 minutes into the restarted session, Vettel loses his Ferrari as he goes into the last corner - he manages to keep it out of the wall.
Seems they dialed back the downforce a bit too much
It was crazy! Canāt believe it.
I am so hooked! I keep seeing where my time would place me. I would slot in between Lando and Max
I would slot somewhere behind Kubica. Poor Robert.
Free Practice 3 about to kick off. Track temp is already at almost 50Ā°C. Hereās the big three teams having offs yesterdays FP2.
Uneventful FP3, with none of the dramatics of yesterday. Leclerc tops his 2nd session for the weekend. Mercs looking ominous right there. Maccas in Top 10 contention again (although Sainz has grid penalties for tomorrow).
Take a bow Charles Leclerc! Wow. Phenomenal lap for his 2nd career pole. 1:03.003 is also a new circuit record, and Ferrariās first pole in Austria since Schumacher in 2003. Contrast that with Seb Vettel who didnāt get a lap in during Q3 due to a problem with the air pressure line that kept him garage-bound for the entire session.
Top show from KMag into P5 for Haas, Norris into P6 for McLaren, and both the Alfas also to go P7 and P8. Nice to see 6 different cars in the top 7 grid spots. May be small changes though as Hamilton and Russell are both under investigation for impeding during qualifying. Also need to factor in grid penalties for Sainz, Albon, Hulkenburg and Magnussen.
Great work Charles, Kevin Magnussen, Lando Norris and even Kimi! Too bad the times posted wonāt be the deciding factor for some guys, but still a great mix in the top few places. 6 manufacturers in the top 7!!!
Should be a cracker of a race, especially with that long uphill climb to the hairpin creating some overtaking opportunities. It canāt be more of a snorefest than Franceā¦ can it?
Hamilton hit with a grid penalty for impeding Kimi. That means he starts fifth instead of second, and Norris is up to fourth for McLaren!
Looking forward to the race. Here is hoping for an exciting race!
