Funny stuff. Did you see the OC/On-Off?

No I havent!

Team Red on top after FP1. Albon looking solid in his first Red Bull run right behind Max. Mercs clearly yet to remove all the packing ballast from their cars.

FP1 Means nothing. But I am still happy to see Ferrari 1 and 2 after the break. Coz Red Bull is going to take their second place constructors away if they don’t pull up their socks now that Albon is there.

Edit: Good thing I waited on Greg, my link was going to look crappy.

FP2 in the bag. The Ferrari duo switch around at the top. The Mercedes pair start warming up. Perez gets the Racing Point into P5 before his car fails with overheating issues and he stops out on circuit 5 mins before the end of the session. Max is still there or thereabouts, while Alex focuses his entire session on race pace - he has a new engine in the RB for his first weekend with the team and will start from the back of the grid.

Six drivers on grid penalties already:

Nico Hulkenberg, Daniel Ricciardo and Carlos Sainz Jr have all taken the latest Spec C Renault V6, and will receive five-place grid penalties.

Alex Albon, Daniil Kvyat and Lance Stroll have all taken multiple new elements and will therefore go to the back of the grid.

Sergio Perez’ engine overheating issues at the end of FP2 may make it seven.

Also, Kimi was hassled in the paddock by a “tipsy-toe” fan wanting to grab his sunglasses. His interview for Dutch TV shows the difference in UK vs Dutch broadcast rules :grinning:

The face of his PR handler trying to not burst into laughter… :joy:

Red Flag in FP3 as Lewis Hamilton loses the Merc in Fagnes and slides heavily into the tyre wall. Front left looked to take the worst of the impact. Possible chassis damage may mean a pit lane start. If it’s limited to suspension damage, may be rebuilt in time for Qualifying.

Leclerc fastest again, 0.451 ahead of Vettel, who in turn has .497 over Bottas. Verstappen generally best of the rest still, but muttering about everything on his way around. Somewhat surprised to see DRic slip into P4 ahead of Max though - been a sort of meh weekend for Renault so far, so maybe it’s a positive sign for tomorrow. Good to see Sergio staying consistent since yesterday in P6. Both Alfas in the top 10. And amusingly, the P10 slot taken by Pierre Gasly almost a full second faster than Kvyat -

And here’s a clip of Hamilton’s off:

Woop! Ferrari 1-2. Really hope LeClerc can turn this into a victory this time.

Charlie gets his 3rd career pole. And well deserved it is too - he dominated Qualifying, FP3 and FP2. And his pole lap was sublime.

An absolutely horrific and tragic racing accident, and a very stark reminder of the dangers of motor racing and the incredible bravery these drivers show every time that they slide into a cockpit, roll onto a circuit, and give us motorsport fans our dose of vicarious high speed entertainment.

RIP Anthoine Hubert, 1996-2019

An annotated video analysis of the accident. Be warned, it’s not easy to watch:

A tragedy like this is felt across all motor racing disciplines, and the sadness is shared by the entire community. Here’s the IndyCar paddock paying respects:

Keep Juan Manuel Correa in your thoughts as he remains in ICU in a stable condition with multiple leg fractures and “minor” spinal injuries (not sure how any spinal injury can be minor, but that’s what it says.)

http://racetechdevelopmentgroup.com/media/serious-accident-for-juan-manuel-correa-during-race-today/

And finally a thought for Giuliano Alesi who was the only one of the three directly involved in the accident to come away unharmed. It can not be easy realizing how close you were to things being much, much worse. Especially when you witness friends and paddock rivals lose their lives or get seriously injured at the same time.

Final Belgian Grand Prix Classification:

A maiden F1 win (eventually!) for Charles Leclerc. But it was a close run thing - if it wasn’t for Vettel playing team defense it would have been another Hamilton win.

Leclerc becomes the first Monegasque F1 race winner and the youngest driver to claim his first victory with Ferrari.

Absolutely gutting end to the race for Lando Norris. Near perfect start, running 5th from Lap 1 all the way through to the start of the final lap, only to have an engine failure on the start line. He’s still classified, but only on P11 and out of the points.

Ferrari need to find a solution to their awful tyre wear issues before next weekend. If they don’t, I fear they won’t get away with keeping the Mercs at bay again.

LeClerc!!! Yes man! So happy for him! But it shows, how even with the straight line advantage of Ferarri has, the Mercs can still beat them. If it wasn’t for Seb I think Hamilton might have taken him.

And a sad statistic that the commentators made, Merc have taken more 1-2 finishes this season than Ferarri did in a decade :sob:

My highlight of the race was seeing Albon work his way up the field to finish in 5th place. He certainly proved himself in the Red Bull.

That was a brilliant race from Leclerc, and I must say Vettel did his work - he kept Lewis behind long enough for Leclerc to have the buffer. I didnt expect higher than 3rd or 4th for the second ferarri. Max, that was just pure bad luck, the kid altho I am still not a fan, I am respecting his growth this year - last year we would have seen tantrums, this time he reacted in a mature fashion.

The F1.5 was a brilliant race, we saw some stunning overtakes, Albon proving his worth, Norris, my heart broke for the kid. Even Gasly was feistier than normal. Was it just me or did the Haas drivers and even Renault drivers forgot to come to work?
