Whoop! Loving this change in Ferrari, and that Le Clerc can make use of it. Let’s make it another Ferrari win haha. At least let Hamiltons world championship not be by a big margin.
Here’s the full Qualifying Timesheet, Report and Highlights for those that missed it:
And a bonus onboard video of LECs pole lap:
Another big crash in this morning’s F2 Sprint race. Fortunately both drivers involved are okay, no fractures or serious injuries, but have been take to Med Center for checks.
I’m putting this one down to poor driving behavior and the absolutely shitty use of asphalt run-off areas that do nothing to slow the speed of cars and punish drivers that make a mistake and go off circuit. In fact, it looks almost as if some of them using those areas are going even faster . Applying penalties for exceeding track limits is not working, slapping stupid sausage curbs all over the place has proven to be more dangerous than not having them there, and too many drivers seemingly are getting away with poor driving.
I’m mean, this looks like it could have been captured from any average public multiplayer lobby in F1 2019:
All the safety systems on the cars are pointless if the circuits they’re racing on are inherently unsafe. Bring back sand traps and apply instant race bans and point penalties for drivers doing stupid shit.
Another video, with more angles and onboards:
Even the stupid chevron bollards do nothing to slow Aitken down - actually sounds like he accelerated! - as he returns to the track. And the speed and complete disregard for other drivers should be an immediate black flag and race ban/points removal for Aitken, imo.
Also the asphalt runoffs do nothing to slow the car in trouble down, and the impact with the barriers is always high speed and huge, and where the concussion and injuries happen.
EDIT: Maybe a little harsh on Aitken there, although he did accelerate in the runoff area. Helicam view shows that Mazipan avoided the bollards completely and raced to get ahead of Aitken. Everything else I said still stands.
Ag nee Ferrari that was an unfortunate one.
Get in there Lewis
I am super happy for Sainz and Perez though.
I honestly have no words for the race, I just know this is seriously becoming my least favourite track.
Sainz, perez and norris were my drivers of the day
It does look as though Macca’s 4th place is pretty secure now. Amazing turnaround all things considered. Now they can start to shift more focus to the 2020 car, and then by 2021, there will be a Merc engine in the back again. Good times ahead!
Only found this now… This is AMAZING!
THAT MADE MY DAY!
OMG! That is so good! Love the increased intensity by the cat as well
I can get behind Lando in a Merc
And now we know why we are getting merc power in mclaren again - it doesnt surprise me!
He’ll do well, no doubt, but personally I would prefer if McLaren hang on to him.
I agree, I think if Mclaren puts the time and effort into him, we will have a star
