Funny what winning in Monaco can do for your job security…
I hope he gets less team orders, ESPECIALLY early in the seasons. Let them race!
That was actually quite tough! I would probably have done as bad as the bottom drivers. They should do pictures of T1 and then I would do MUCH better
Baku “Brake Magic” City!
Alonso: “Miami?”
Round 8 | 2022 Azerbaijan Grand Prix
Baku City Circuit | Baku
From the streets of Monaco the F1 circus heads east across Europe and the Black Sea to the shores of the Caspian Sea and the streets of another city - Baku’s City Circuit. The circuit, with its combination of long (very long!!) straights and tight, twisty corners, is a setup challenge for the teams. And it is hard on the cars too.
Every year of its running has seen multiple mechanical failures and retirements. Last year was no exception. The dramatic sight of Max Verstappen crashing out of the lead with just five laps left to go after the catastrophic failure of his left rear tyre at high speed will be fresh in the World Champions’ mind. (Lance Stroll’s tyre failure triggered accident was even bigger - see the Dramatic Moments vid below.)
Verstappen returns to Baku with the hope of claiming the victory that was ripped from him last year. If he does, he’ll become the fifth different winner of the Azerbaijan GP, maintaining the circuits “a different driver wins every time” record. That said, any one of the previous four winners could break that record this year, as all four are still on the 2022 grid. To be fair though, Hamilton and Perez are more likely to become the first Baku repeat winner before either Ricciardo or Bottas do.
. Turn 1, together with Turn 8 - aka Castle Corner- is the scene of much of the big action in Baku. Google Maps labelers can’t resist a good map troll .

How’s the weather?
Baku weather for the entire weekend is looking clear, sunny, and hot. High 20°C’s at race time on Sunday mean engine and brake temperatures are going to have to be carefully managed. Track temps are going to be in cooker range again.

There’s hope for us gamers yet!
Well maybe for some of us…
Me and Greg will ma forever hang out at the back…
Well last night I tapped into some of that Ferrari strategy and instead of doing a quick splash and dash pitstop I forgot to uncheck changing tyres and landed up wasting 20 extra seconds in the pits, dropping me from 6th to 13th
Great news, but I remain sceptical for the time being. The only one (so far) reporting this is Ben Hunt and he “writes” for trash tabloid The Sun. Once there’s more reputable media picking up on the story, and more information on who is going to be front the money for it, my scepticism levels may decline.
Apparently whatshisface from the FIA was in south Africa this week (reliable rumour source)
Going to miss the race tomorrow now I must hold out until Monday evening somehow
We are going to attempt watching at the step down facility with dad and some of his friends. Im petrified.
