Was happy that I got back home in time for the race. Seems like I wouldâve been better off not watching⌠FFS
Double FFS!!
what a fail for Ferrari⌠GG Red bull !! lets see how the race ends on
From the most reliable car on the grid to the most unreliable. Clearly something in the upgrade was not so shanana
Holy heck, Lewis looks utterly smashed. Hope he can recover by Friday in time for FP1 in Canada. And that Merc give the poor man (and George) a car that doesnât continue to destroy his spine.
Time to check the results like the grumpy person I am for switching off.
Haha I missed the end of the race aka podiums and so forth. It was a rather meh race for me aka the Maccaâs. The Ferrari engine is a big oops - I mean 4 out of 6 didnt even reach the half way mark
The Italian press must be ripping Ferrari a new one this morning.
A double DNF after pole? Hydraulics and engine failures in the same race? Both factory cars and two customer cars? Only a third of the season done?
Someone in Maranello is waking up with a horseâs head in his bed and termination papers in his mailbox.
Also, thoughts on F1 forcing a mid-season rule change through to mandate minimum ride heights to force teams to raise the floor of the car to try lessen the bouncing porpoise action, and save a spinal injury and low key concussion from repetitive head banging?
Lewis Hamilton was visibly distressed after what he described as the most painful race of his life, and though some have written off complaints as a play for a favourable rule change, a growing number of drivers are in support of intervention to banish the bouncing.
Cursed star broken as giants hit new low; Hamiltonâs âs***boxâ sparks rule debate: F1 Talking Pts
Should the teams (mostly Merc, but also Ferrari and McLaren too) be being pressured by their drivers to raise the ride height and sacrifice some speed for the health and safety of the drivers? Or should the rules be changed for everyone by FIA/F1 mandate?
Oh, and lest we forgetâŚ
yes, forget⌠and move on, the sooner the better and hopefully with better results. at this point P2/P3 and/or P4 is good results.
I understand the need for the porposing to be sorted. It looks harsh on the drivers and I am sure it cant be great for the cars either. Add to that the fact that porpousing actually can make cars unsafe, and something needs to be done.
That being said, and call me a cynic, but how much was Lewis âmilkingâ it and how much was actual pain? Is he suffering more because of his age? George was also complaining but not nearly as much. And are we only considering a change because it is mainly the 7 time world champ making his voice heard, or do ALL drivers want the change.
Cynic over and out.
The sky news commentators also made a good point regarding the porpoisingâŚother teams have it under controlâŚyou CAN also fix it and make it go away, but you sacrifice speed.
So if lewis is complaining about his back, his TEAM needs to listen and make the changesâŚthe FIA shouldnt come in just so the mercâs can have EVERYONE make changes because they dont wanna put safety over performance.
then youâre just penalizing everyone who fixed the problem WITHOUT sacrificing performance.
It wonât be fair to teams that designed a car that doesnât suffer much from porpoising to now have their smart designs compromised by a rule change.
How about bringing in a rule that limits the total load a driver may experience over a race or weekend? Thatâll force the teams to make the changes that protects the drivers.
Bringing in the rules in the way that Merc are proposing with give them an advantage, but disadvantage other teams, itâs incredibly one sided, and I canât help but feel that Lewis was given a setup that made the porpoising worse in order to push through the rule change.
There are fixes for porpoising available now, within the rules. The teams need to explore those first.
Die hoogste bome vang die meeste windâŚ
Every time I see people make speculations about Lewis and what he is saying I get reminded about that Afrikaans saying. Yes, he struggles to get out of the car but now everyone is making a massive issue about him, ignoring the fact that Daniel Riccardo couldnât get out of his car properly after the race due to a bad back, Pierry Gasly saying this is porpoising is a massive compromise on his health, Sainz calling on the FIA to act as soon as possible, and multiple other drivers nlwith not so many critics like Lewis saying the same things about porpoisingâŚ
Beslis! But because none of the other drivers are getting the media attention I did not even know about them suffering.
Stefano Domenicali and Toby Venter at Kyalami to do a little walkabout after talks in Sandton with local and national tourism reps, business folks, and the SAGP group that Warren Scheckter has been managing.
Dieter âHowzitâ Rencken breaks the prospects and pitfalls of a 2023 SA GP down pretty neatly here:
Also reports on various other sites, but mostly just âhe was here, talks are progressing, Lewis wants it.â
The Race looks at the permutations for an even larger F1 calendar in future, and the possibility of some classic circuits being dropped. I would love to see a grand prix at Kyalami again, but it would be a bitter sweet thing if it came at the expense of something like a Spa grand prix.
Iâve been real careful about getting my hopes up, mostly backed by no credible source reporting anything but rumours so far, but 1) photo proof of a walkabout, and B) Dieter Rencken generally knows whatâs up. Things are getting interesting!
If we do have to somehow lose Spa from the calender, I think Kyalami joining the season would be the only thing able to console me!
