Thereā€™s a new F1 TV account tier available now. F1 TV Premium is slowly starting to roll out around the world and is now available in SA.

Big additions over the Pro tier subscription is the addition of 4K/UHD/HDR streaming and Multiview for Premium subscribers. Biggest (and most painful) change to Pro seems to be that theyā€™ll be enforcing an only one active stream on one device at a time policy for Pro subscribers.*

Want to watch on multiple devices simultaneously? Youā€™re going to need a Premium subscription that letā€™s you watch on up to 6 devices simultaneously.

Local pricing is still showing up in USD online, but it does show up in Rand in the iOS app at fairly similar converted values.

If you prefer, a monthly sub will cost you around $10 more over ten months of the active season:

Not cheap, but we are still getting a little regional pricing from FOM. Our Pro and Premium pricing is cheaper than the US, for example: US Pro is $84.99 and Premium is $129.99. (Access is the same price).

Upgrading from an existing and still current subscription is possible but might be an issue if youā€™re subscribed through an in-app purchase as opposed to a web based purchase:

ā€– If you are upgrading via web then your upgrade will take place immediately and you will be pro-rated the remaining balance of your existing subscription. Upgrades via in-app purchase will follow your app stores standard upgrade process. Please contact your appstore for support.

To upgrade, login to your account and look out for the fairly obvious ā€œUpgradeā€ button on the main menu or in the Account settings.

For new subscriptions, visit Subscribe to F1 TV.

* Not sure how this change will impact Multiviewer users, if at all.

Also I have a question - did Aston Martin tell Netflix to go fly a kite?

They focused on a few stories, but skipped so many others.

Really officially the worst waste of time.

The long wait is over! Formula 1 is back this weekend, and the 2025 season kicks off at the crack of dawn on Sunday at the Australian Grand Prix in Melbourne!

It still feels a bit weird to say out loud but Lewis Hamilton is a Ferrari driver. After years of dominating with Mercedes, the seven-time champ is switching things up at 40 years old, chasing what could be a record-breaking eighth title. The big question is: Can Ferrari give him a car fast enough to make that dream a reality? His teammate, Charles Leclerc, wonā€™t make life easy for him either. The blossoming bromance thatā€™s been captured by the Scuderia social media team may yet develop into a tense rivalry.

Max Verstappen has been pretty much unstoppable since winning the first of his four straight Driverā€™s Championship titles with Red Bull. Lando and Charles did start challenging that supremacy last year, so hopefully this year will see more of the same. Red Bull has lost some key technical figures over the last year, and with a new driver pairing in place and a completely new set of regualtions coming for 2026, this might be the year that the Red Bull dominance starts to crack.

2024 Constructor champions, McLaren have been looking stronger than ever, and this year could be their best shot at a driverā€™s title in a long time. Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri are both hungry for wins, but in Melbourne, all eyes will be on Piastri. Heā€™s got the home crowd behind him, and you can bet heā€™d love nothing more than to become the first Aussie to win his home Grand Prix. That inter-team rivalrry is another that may eveolve into something more than pleasant teammates over the course of the season.

After no driver changes from the previous year at the start of 2024, F1 is making up for it this year. Six rookies join the grid for their first full season of F1 racing - the most since 2001! Additionally, 8 of the 10 teams have driver lineup changes since the end of the 2024 season with only Aston Martin and McLaren keeping the same driver pairing from last year.

Andrea Kimi Antonelli joins Mercedes to replace that new guy at Ferrari. Liam Lawson replaces the ousted Sergio Perez at Red Bull. A second Aussie in Jack Doohan is in at Alpine. Oliver Bearman will also race full-time, joining Haas alongside Esteban Ocon, while the top two in Formula 2 last season ā€“ Gabriel Bortoleto and Isack Hadjar ā€“ are also on the grid at Sauber and Racing Bulls respectively.

Melbourneā€™s notoriously unpredicatable weather is one more unknown to the mix of the 2025 season opener. One minute itā€™s sunshine, the next itā€™s pouring rain. That means strategy is going to be crucial, and teams will have to be on their toes. A sudden downpour could turn the race upside down and add some classic Albert Park chaos! And rain on Sunday is looking more and more likelyā€¦

McLaren won the Constructors after starting the opening GP last year in P7 and P8 #justsayingā€¦ Iā€™m guessing Ferrari compromised on the qualy setup for the rain tomorrowā€¦ Lewis in a rain ready racecar will be battling with Max for the podium.

Ferrari does strategies best.
Also imagine Lewis joining Ferrari and being behind both Mercs on the first race. Granted Iā€™m certain Ferrari will pass them soon.
Also imagine Perez chilling at home thinkingā€¦ This MF took my seat and did nothing
Also shout outs the Williams, I just want them to keep going better.

What a roller coaster of a race to start the season!

Frikken Ferrari  The shitty HP laptop they use for the weather radar must have been lagging 3 laps behind everyone else.

Big feels for Isaak Hadjar. And also a little for Lawson and Bortelleto getting so close to the end. Glad that Ollie got to the end without anymore damage though.

Also a bit gutted for Oscar. Donā€™t think he had enough to challenge Lando at the end but would have been nice for him to have made the podium at least. He should have taken charge earlier when he did have the pace.

The McLarens are clearly the team to beat again. Max isnā€™t going to let them roll over him though. The Mercs are there and the Williams is too. Next weekend, if itā€™s dry, will give us a better idea of things. Shanghai has a lot of very twisty bits and a couple of very long straights. Itā€™ll be a lot more representative of how the cars perform than today.

Oh, and if you didnā€™t do your Fantasy F1 team in time, you lost out on crushing me - at least against my Team 1. 4 of my 5 drivers were DNF today. :triumph: Thatā€™s -80 points straight off the bat. And I donā€™t think thereā€™s enough points in my other driver and constructors to make that up. My Round 1 score is going to be in the red. But not the good, winning red. The kak one.
