I spend many hours a day reading my books on my phone. My youngest (18) thinks its sad that I prefer it that way rather than the 100’s of books on my real life shelves. She likes the real thing, my wife too. I just prefer not having to walk around with a book in my hand all the time

That’s amazing! Has it made a noticeable difference? Especially interested to hear how it’s impacted your sleep as it’s one of the big things I’m currently struggling with. Such a hard habit to break.

I never actually drew any correlation to my phone and sleep quality to be honest. I’ve never been one to use my phone in bed. But I have noticed that when it is/was next to me, I would snooze it constantly. Moving it out the room has helped considerably.
That being said, with less use and having less in reach I find I am more intentional with who and how I give my attention to. I actually find myself getting annolyed with my kids and even spouse now with the amount of time they spend on theirs.

Last day at my current job. Preparing and handing over last minute stuff. Feel sorry for people here, manager of my dept just expecting more of fewer and fewer people.
When I started here a year ago, we were a fully staffed, now running a bare minimum but manager still brings out stricter and stricter KPIs.
The one guy here, initially onboarded me and helped me get into things, very happy go lucky guy, to see him turn all negative and depressed…even seeking help because of it.
Yet, at every turn the company goes hard on TEAMWORK this and TEAMWORK that, etc etc. Holding forced get togethers and braais to lift and build spirit.
Strange, maybe because I’m not management I dont get it or see it from their eyes, but the longer someone is in a senior role, the more out of touch they get from people actually doing the grunt work.

this is true at most companies…
We do a monthly connect with the org. 220 employees, of whom most have not seen a bonus or a raise but they share that we are making millions and now finally not in trouble after last years retrenchments - they also love to say how we are making Rx per person but we as the people dont see that money ever…
