Do I have to go back to work?

Also R300 a week extra on fuel currently and there is no way to cover it - I will have to try work from home 2days week

The company I work for has reduced the mandatory 2/5 week policy to 1/5. Nice of them. It does not affect me since I am a fully remote worker.

My wife’s work offered voluntary work from home to help with the commute costs. It does not help us much as I travel past her work and normally give her lifts  At least she gets one day at home each week and she claims she gets more done.

Does anybody use a courier or shipping company to ship parcels to Australia? I thought it would be easy, but it seems extortionately expensive! Any tips and tricks would be appreciated!

Morning all. Anyone see where yesterday went? I seem to have misplaced mine.

Doing an at home sleep study next week, then I will know for sure. My ENT pumped me full of drugs for LPR, a kind of reflux that causes sleep apnea, decided to not go that route, the drugs are nasty to kidneys and mine are damaged already.
Looking at prices of CPAP machines, pretty pricy, medical aid won’t pay for any of it.
They prefer me to be on medicines that will ultimately lead me to dialysis, which, they will pay for. How messed up is that?
Luckily I have some savings, will use that to pay for sleep study (R2500), mask (R2800) and CPAP machine, ranging from R11K to R20k.

A day? I signed an invoice as 2027 the other day… I lost a whole year!

Dude, it’s worth it every cent. The sucky bit is that every now and then the masks and pipes give in (or get eaten by a puppy), so you’ve got to replace them. The little filters are also annoyingly expensive, unless you get them on Temu at 10% of the price! I bought a big pack for R120 two years ago, gave some away, and I still have > 50% left

Do the temu filters work just as well? If so, I am buying a big pack too! Which CPAP machine do you have?

They work like 90% as well. Ever so slightly quicker to show dust accumulation, but that’s a general Witbank problem with air filters! You should have a much better time in your clean Natal air!

I’ve got the Restmed Airsense 10 Autoset; your sleep study folks will probably advise better, but the bit that I was told is a worthwhile differentiation (don’t think it costs extra, though) was the Autoset. It essentially adjusts the pressure through the night: starts low and comfortable, and then gradually ramps up to where it needs to operate. The Airsense 10 CPAP has a single pressure set point, that’s the pressure you get all night long.

The Restmed also has data logging and automatically uploads to the cloud. I used the app for the first year or so to get used to how I should be using the machine, then naturally stopped using the app altogether. I have seen people write scripts to pull the data from the Restmed API, I just never bothered since I don’t know what I’ll do with it beside tell my wife “See, I did sleep poorly, I have data!”, which definitely is a bad idea. Eventually the onboard SD card did SD card things and died, so I pulled it out and now it seems to work without data logging ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
