Does anyone know if its a must to wipe your phone when you take it to apple for something like a battery replacement. Im not too keen to wipe my phone and redownload everything especially re authenticating the banking apps etc, we fix are cheaper and dont require to wipe but with them the phone wont be waterproof anymore afterwards

Not necessary. They’re quite secure. Of course they recommend to backup it as a precaution but I have never done so and never needed to either.
Also, avoid WeFix like the plague. If you want any sort of value to be retained.
