Morning everyone. A long day of more meetings awaits.
Yeah we lanned with him. And he mostly play diablo and starcraft.
Yes we used to have a Caboose on MyG, but the one from there sadly passed away last year, not this year, so this is someone else.
morning everyone!
O shit your right even made a note of it on blizzard.
Mornin’ all
So… While I’m on the job hunt, and having been a volunteer so long, I am having trouble finding definitions for some of the types of positions out there. (Things have changed over the past 12 years :P)
Can anyone give me a quick rundown of what you think the following are defined as?
DevOps
Full-stack developer
Thanks
Morning everyone.
DevOps
DevOps Engineer works with developers and the IT staff to oversee the code releases. They are either developers who get interested in deployment and network operations or sysadmins who have a passion for scripting and coding and move into the development side where they can improve the planning of test and deployment.
But it basically means you’re a Release Manager, Automation Expert, Software Dev/Tester, QA and/or Security Enginer. Or all of the above rolled into one.
Full Stack Dev:
Front end developers build the visible parts of websites/applications that users see and interact with.
Back end developers build the “under the hood” parts of websites/applications that users don’t interact with directly.
Full stack developers are developers with front end AND back end skills, while full stack engineers have front end and back end skills, as well as experience with things like project management and systems administration.
Sweet, that helps greatly.
I am definitely DevOps then
I could also be full stack, but my front ends won’t be pretty.
I leave front-end development for the people who can’t really develop and just want to make things look pretty.
As a result my stuff (WHEN I do front-end dev work) always look “spartan and minimalist”
Morning people of the palace
Yea that is not our Caboose - it actually hurts to see his name in a game, knowing its not him.
So mum update: She is on complete bed rest, not allowed to lift anything heavier than her laptop.
We took away her keys
Her docs said ironically she is just in osteoporosis - literally by 0.5%. So they do not understand the extent of her fractures.
They believe the major one was done first, and the rest a month or so later. Her case presented in such a way that it confounded 5 doctors. So the little bit of good news we have is that because it is presenting in such a rare way, they are doing an academic article on her case. So they are covering the costs of all her scans up till now as well as the next 2 follow up scans.
The big fear is if she falls again, she can break her hip and refracture the older injuries that are healing very slowly. She can end up in a wheelchair if she isnt careful. So she has had to quit her job immediately.
The difficult part is she doesnt want to take the meds. Because they are fucking expensive.R4500 per month, and the medical aid doesnt cover it. Thankfully one of my dad’s investments started to pay out. So that covers most of it.
Fun times
I’m missing something
Caboose aka Pascal from Mygaming passed away last year in early Dec.
exactly. I’m dealing with one of those front end types now. They put up a website for the organization I’m currently with, and her contact us form isn’t working. She keeps saying things like “you haven’t set up the email addresses” with a screenshot of our hosting providers email section in cPanel, so I sent her a “whatsmydns” link to our MX records, which are G Suite servers… /facepalm
My mom fell on a cruise and broke her hip due to osteoporosis one year… I hope your mom comes to terms with it. There is a lifestyle change that needs to be adapted. It sucks, but it is manageable…
She doesnt want to make that change, she doesnt even tell the fracking doctor that she has side effects from the meds.
She is also a young 65 aka very active and she is struggling to make that change. She wants to go without the meds as well.
My mom is on stuff to improve bone mass/density, as she was apparently borderline. She still does all her running just fine though.
I don’t know all of your mom’s circumstances but maybe the lifestyle changes don’t have to be too drastic?
For the next six weeks it has to be - the 5 fractures in her pelvis needs to heal. And until her bone density is higher, she is at a high risk of a fracture for now - even though she is borderline. I am going to nag her non stop to take the meds, since they give her a rash and is causing headaches. She doesnt want to take it. She also hates big pharma, so she is fighting to take these meds. And at some point I am going to snap, I know some conspiracies are true, but for frack sake, take the proper meds for now.
The fun fact is in 5 years time I need to go for yearly bone density tests since I have a 70% chance of getting it
While she definitely needs to take the meds, there are some things that she can take that are more natural.
The main one I know my mom takes is tumeric and a bit of black pepper.
I agree on the foods and so on- more green veg and so on. She has a tumeric concoction that she is using already.
But she wants to stop the meds because the big pharma stuff
My mom makes that for my dad, he thinks he has high blood pressure and that helps lower it.
