“This is not the greatest topic in the world… this is just a tribute”

I have a similar situation, I sit in a small little “office” with no aircon and in the morning the sun peppers it from one side and in the afternoon from the other. The benefit of working nights is that I only get it from around 14:00-18:00 and then it’s over.

Thankfully I do have a compatible blu ray drive that made extracting my PS3 disc the easiest part of the job.
I got it to run easily, got a my Xbox controller to work as well, but there are massive lag spikes and slowdown - seems to me the game loading shaders constantly and running everything from the CPU. Essentially from what I read you would need to play the game all the way through in this way until it’s cached all the data - although this isn’t cast in stone - people report smooth from the word go but most don’t. First time through the palace was a slideshow at parts, now it’s smooth.

I’m about a quarter of the way running every possible combination of settings.

But here I am so far

EDIT

@Wlad only saw your subsequent posts after I posted this. There are a few videos on youtube with a 60fps walkthrough but from what I’ve read, you’re best off avoiding it. I had the patch for 60fps, and the game ran better after I got rid of it.

Yes the shader thing seems to be common with emulators. CEMU (Wii U emulator) does the same thing but RCPS3 seems to handle it a bit better so far. My game doesn’t lag when it’s compiling shaders but it does have missing graphics until the shaders stop compiling. I played up to the Nexus so far without any frame rate issues. Will play some more when I get home after work and see what happens.

But yes, I’m not about to mess around with the framerate of the game. 30FPS is fine for me.

Fire is the frame killer. That I’ve noticed. And crate smashing - but that I can live with. Palace ran fine earlier but now it’s up it’s old bullshit again… If you figure out the magic setting combo be sure to let me know.

I will do so. Did you follow the setup guide on the RCPS3 wiki? There is one setting that they say must be enabled for Demon’s Souls to work properly.

There is also a setup guide on Reddit that I think has different settings. https://www.reddit.com/r/demonssouls/comments/8ejkbx/guide_for_setting_up_demon_souls_on_a_ps3_emulator/

What CPU do you have? I’ve done some reading and they’ve mentioned you’ll have issues if your CPU doesn’t have 8 cores (or more).

Morning people of the palace

hardly got any sleep last night. Between the heat, the light from my mozzie catcher and the loadshedding with our alarm was just to much for me. I am tired and cranky

Sounds about the same as me, only I had a mozzie buzzin’. I woke up and put on some peaceful sleep, sneezed, then inhaled a bunch of it.

gack. Tonight will be better. Right?

I hope so, I am at that feeling ill from being over tired. So I need some proper sleep. I can’t seem to fall asleep before 1am with the heat.

The mozzies i had buzzing when i turned the light off - so kept the light on and it bugged me all night.

I have one similar to that. What is doesnt show is how bright that light is.

Morning folks. Have to visit the doctor this morning. Hopefully nothing serious… I haven’t flown anywhere recently so at least I know it’s not coronavirus.
