“Exuse me, i have been shot in the head and i am currently bleeding out, could i please.get a quote on how much it would cost to save me?”
Nah dude, in that case they check the limit on your credit card.
Then I wont get anywhere mine is R8k
No we have not. The doctor told us that we’re in the low risk group, so we should only come for tests if we are showing any symptoms.
We could not afford to have a “proper” medical aid anymore, R4.5k for 2 adults and 2 kids is way more than we could afford, so we dropped to a hospital plan and gap cover.
I’m glad to say that I came right. Drove to the hospital. Got all the correspondence from them to the medical aid where the medical aid just never replied. Then went to the medical aid and irritated them until I was happy.
So the bill is about R4000 now which I can live with.
Oh and the hospital also recommended Bonitas (did I spell that right?). So yeah, will go with them.
Glad you got it sorted @Solitude ! Its still ridiculous that you had to make all this effort for something they are supposed to do.
The people running our hospitality aren’t taking any sanitary precautions, even though we have guests coming in from all over the country, even by air. Not sure if there’s any internationals.
So… We’re all working from home next week.
Whats even worse about this medical aid/hospital plan thing is if I find a cheaper company, they will not cover my heart condition for up to 2 years and that is they don’t exclude it totally. I hate medical aids, so F****** much. I know exactly where @wenzdayz is coming from.
It’s sickening that these companies do this.
Oh… WTF Dell? 10/100 LAN on all your new laptops (if they even have RJ45 at all)…
And why are companies still selling laptops with 4GB RAM?
Eish…
/rant
yup I also dont get it. They still sell laptops with 2GB ram and windows 10 ><
I had to buy a cheap laptop they sales guy told me it will be slow and what not. I then asked him if you know it will be slow why do you sell them?
From what I can tell, South Africa skipped 9th gen the Intel iX line. Its mostly 8th gen stuff still out there.
Correct me if I’m wrong but pretty much every shooter and not got the same horizontal and vertical ADS.
Heck, in Fallout 4, you have to actually double the vertical sensitivity in the ini files for it to feel normal.
Kenny Rogers passed away yesterday at the age of 81.
Considering all that’s going on in the world right now, he knew when to fold 'em… RIP Gambler!
Morning you beautiful fuckers
Mornin’ y’all.
We do seem to lag with the launch of new chips down here. Because of our (lack of) economies of scale, I suspect our local distributors are pretty low in the pecking order.
That said, I just bought a new laptop for my wife with a 9th Gen i5 in it. (Her old laptop has been giving grief for months now, and we’ve been travelling a lot, so it’s been really difficult for her to get any other work done while we’re on the road.)
I was scrolling around Evetech’s website and saw that that they had Lenovo Legion Y540’s on special. R15,999 for a solid machine that comes with a GTX 1660 Ti seemed like a fantastic price. Looked up some reviews and they were all positive. Now she can work and play games while we’re on the road to test the country’s cellphone networks!
Anyway… that’s my long story to say that there are 9th Gen Intel processors on the market in South Africa now. So I don’t think we skipped it, we’re just lagging as always.
Hmm, odd. I’ve seen more 10th gen laptops in the sub-R15k range while shopping around.
The place I’m volunteering with said they’d get me one since my graphics card in my 9 year old laptop died and it has been reflowed far too often, and the latest one didn’t help. They said “whatever I need to do my job” but the only ones with enough oomph are gaming laptops, I just don’t need the GPU power.
They say they usually spend R11k on business laptops for regular users, so maybe asking for R16k isn’t out of the question… I just don’t want to seem like I’m trying to milk 'em…
I’ll just sit them down, and explain how much I’m gonna need
