It’s the same word I always use because some article I once read claimed that it was the best starting word: LEAST

I used to use crane then with a change to the pool of possible words, or something, least was deemed to be the optimal starting word. I have found that the 2nd guess plays a bigger role in how many guesses you’ll end up making.
