Advise on work laptop

Ok so for my new work that im starting on in September, i have to buy a new laptop. The budget i have been given for the laptop is R22K. What would you guys recommend me to get. Bearing in mind the budget also has to include Microsoft office and an Antivirus.

So… What exactly are you going to use this for?

Well nothing hectic, its literally just a laptop for general everyday work…

Dell Inspiron 35xx

  • i5 Processor (i5-8265U)
  • 16GB, 8Gx2, DDR4, 2400MHz
  • 15.6-inch FHD (1920 x 1080) Anti-Glare LED-Backlit Non-touch Display
  • Accidental Damage Protection

Should be ~ R10k

Then buy an Office 365 Subscription (R899,00/year)

Also, don’t bother with an antivirus. Uninstall whatever comes with the laptop, it will only work for 30 days anyway. Just keep Windows 10 up to date and you’ll be fine.

Also try make sure it has an SSD if possible

So the thing is i have been told to spend like the full 22k(even if its going to be a waste for what i will be using the laptop for)

Also for a work laptop, I would want a next day on site warranty. Perhaps a 3 year one.

Perhaps depends on the new companies IT dept

Yeah, pad the price with Warranty and accidental covers; Add bigger HDD, etc…

Dell has the best after sales support (if you buy the right level of support)… Next Business Day support for 3-5 years with Accidental Damage Protection is a total lifesaver.
