Alien Game in Development at Cold Iron Studios

FoxNext Games has acquired Cold Iron Studios, and the studio is gearing up for development on a new title set in the Alien cinematic universe.

According to FoxNext’s announcement, the game will be a shooter for PC and unspecified consoles.

Cold Iron Studios is led by CEO Craig Zinkievich, CTO Shannon Posniewski, and creative director Matt Highison. The development team includes industry veterans who’ve worked on various high-profile titles, including BioShock Infinite, Metroid Prime 3, Neverwinter, and City of Heroes.

“We are thrilled about the opportunity to explore an amazing and rich universe,” Zinkievich said. “Our background in building online worlds and taking established franchises to the next level in interactive entertainment is a precise fit with our product roadmap ahead; we can’t wait to share more information soon.”

While we got a new installment in the Alien film franchise last year, it’s been several years since a video game set in the iconic sci-fi universe has been released.

I wonder what kind of shooter? A corridor shooter or arena or what?
