In reality, the cars are separate classes, but race at the same time. I imagine it would take a long time to test and balance the cars, to the point where it was fair and competitive.
Power vs weight vs drive-ability vs 4 gears vs 5 gears vs tyre wear vs fuel usage vs setup-ability (some have vokol worthwhile that can be changed in the pits, to counter overall bad handling). Can you imagine a ballast system with the Merc? It’s already the heaviest, and needs a Airbus runway braking distance for every corner.
Tons of fun for one-off random antics, but competitive anything, with the full car pack… maybe one model yes. I mean, the Lotus Cortina is in the pack, and we know how awesome that thing was.

I feel the same way, they’re all too different to race in the same class, even with BoP. I can add air intake restictors to the heavy boys to limit the high-end performance, but it will take so much tweaking and testing.
Not to mention, at base level, some cars will outperform the pack on certain tracks just due to the wildly varying weights and torque curves.
It should be possible to run a limited entry list, most of the cars are very close in terms of performance and laptimes. I really want to do a corona cup season with multiple cars to choose from.
Let’s see how it goes after the next one.

Corona Cup Season 6 registration is up. It’s MX-5 time!
1st race will take place on 21 September, 8pm.
Season 1 skins are still there so feel free to use them, or make new ones.
P.S. the track list is not representative, it’s just a copy of the previous season. Subject to change!
