Here’s an excellent explanation of differential preload, that has so many variables, that by the time you’re finished watching it, you’ll be confused again.
Aris is my hero. I’m practising my accent for the next race night
I’m considering it, but is it worth it for the 4 extra tracks? I’m just getting into the game and my current sim backlog is immense (F1 2019, Project Cars 2, Flight Sim 2020 and Elite Dangerous), so I doubt I’ll get tons of time with ACC… So will the base game not suffice until the next sale?
Definitely. Personally, I picked up the DLC purely to be able to drive the ACC version of Kyalami. But you’re right - may as well hold off on the extra 4 circuits until you’ve had a chance to get to grips with all the games.
Agreed, but I think personal preference comes in. To me it makes a bunch of sense, since I love Suzuka, love Bathurst, love to hate Leguna Seca, and need to have a high quality Kyalami in my life.
I want to start transitioning our AC GT3 league over to ACC.
By “transition” I mean run a mock GT3 league in ACC parallel to the AC one so that I can iron out all the kinks and get the events running smoothly. AC GT3 season should be concluding within the next 2 or 3 races. This way we can start season 2 of MEWRL GT3 in ACC whenever that happens to be.
The switchover allows us to get back to the more interesting content AC has on offer.
ACSM (the server manager I’ve been using to run and manage the AC leagues) is only available for ACC as a paid, hosted solution. I don’t want to go down that route unless there’s solid commitment from the MEW community.
I’m wondering if we need to have our own ACC league as there is already a lot of opportunities for racing in the more casual MNR races, and then more formal leagues like Raceface. The upside of those is a wider pool of drivers and skill levels so that we all experience some close racing. This is nothing against you hosting a league, in fact let me take this opportunity to thank you for the awesome leagues that you have put together and all the effort that goes into them.
That said I think it would be fun to have some one off events like an endurance evening or a team race with driver swapping in ACC.
I’m also all for exploring some other content in AC. The MX5 Corona Cup league is still the most fun I’ve had in racing. So I’d be keen to experience some more of that variety.
There’re a fair amount of big ACC races happening weekly, definitely. I think our smaller races are equally, if not, more enjoyable than those big ones, but that’s down to personal opinion.
I want to keep some form of GT racing going on MEW as people seem to enjoy it, the thing is that ACC does GT way better obviously.
We could do a series of endurance events, or a GT3 league much like the one running in AC, or we could drop ACC and stick to the public events.
It’s completely open to suggestion though, no point in pushing something if there’s no interest.
Last night was my first race in the Pro-Am server, and also my first endurance race of longer than 60 minutes. And man it was an absolute amazing race. I didn’t manage to get a good lap in qualifying, but managed to keep my nose clean(ish) during the first 3 laps, and by lap 5 I was in 9th. As the race progressed, I had an epic battle with the car in 10th. He was clearly faster, so when I made a mistake he passed me. The rest of the race was trying to close the gap, which I managed to do, and ended up coming in 10th by 0.6 seconds. One lap more and would’ve had him.
