Automation + BeamNG.Drive

I can’t remember where I saw this idea, it was quite a few years back and I want to try to recreate it.

The idea is that you have to design a car and engine within certain design criteria and then export it to BeamNG and take it down a short tarmac stage, Goodwood FOS style.

The challenge is that you have to be a good driver AND and good designer/engineer/gearhead to post up a good time.

I was playing around a bit while watching the FOS stream and came up with a 4-door luxury sedan and ran it along a little stretch of tarmac on the BeamNG East Coast map.

(It’s made to go fast, not look good, shhh)

This might look intimidating, but bear with me.

I’ve highlighted all criteria which can be designed for, but in addition I will include limitations on engine and drivetrain type as well, e.g. front engine, 3 litre displacement, normally aspirated, RWD.

I find that the limitations really makes Automation more enjoyable. It’s forces compromise as you can’t just make carbon fibre everything with all the latest and greatest technology because that would take decades to produce and would be obsolete (IRL) once finally built.

So If anyone has both games and is up for the challenge, let me know and I’ll make it a thing!

This is the car I made for the last challenge that ended up being abandoned before starting.
