Was t much to go on but was enough to wet my pallet. I’m interested.

If this is half as good as BF4 at its peak, then I am certainly interested!

Trouble is, it might be half as good as BF2042 at its peak…

Battlefield 6 launch 10 October. Open Beta weekends coming up 09 August and 14 August.

The highlights from the 4+ hour Multiplayer reveal and gameplay livestream. (Here if you want to watch the whole thing.)

Tom’s Guide (and others) have had a chance to get hands on with the game, and their initial impressions - albeit after just two hours in game - are suitably impressed.

EA has confirmed two open beta weekends. The first will run from August 9 to 10, with the second held August 14-17. These are open betas, so there’s no need to pre-order or sign up for access. Plus, the betas will be running across PS5, Xbox Series X and PC launchers.

How to play the Open Beta

You can play Battlefield’s Open Beta on:

  • PlayStation®5
  • Xbox Series X|S
  • PC
    • Steam
    • Epic Games Store
    • EA app

You can pre-load the game as early as August 4 at 15:00 UTC (8AM PT) and start playing during the Open Beta Weekends:

  • Early access opens on August 7 at 8:00 UTC
    • If you signed up for Battlefield Labs before July 31, you don’t need a code. Just log in with the EA Account you registered with Battlefield Labs.
    • If you didn’t sign up for Battlefield Labs, you can watch select creators during the reveal streams on July 31 on Twitch to unlock Early Access.
  • Weekend 1 opens on August 9 at 8:00 UTC and closes August 11 at 8:00 UTC
    • No code needed, available to anyone
  • Weekend 2 opens on August 14 at 8:00 UTC (1AM PT) and closes August 17 at 8:00 UTC
    • No code needed, available to anyone

Before you get started, make sure you:

You’ll also get a prompt to enable Secure Boot if you haven’t already – it’s a requirement to play the Open Beta. For guidance about Secure Boot, head over to our EA Help article.

The Multiplyer trailer looks awesome, but no idea why they chose THAT song… Oof…

Because its an awesome song and it fit the trailer really well. And no I’m not being sarcastic. I really think it’s a good song and it worked great in the trailer.

So yeah, about that…

Open Beta Preloading is available now. 40-odd GigaWhatsits.

And all the Open Beta details are out now too:

Maps

Siege of Cairo: Prepare for intense urban combat on the streets of central Cairo, where combat is a game of cat and mouse between infantry and tanks. Fight in alleys, duck in and out of buildings, and always watch your six.

Liberation Peak: Welcome to Tajikistan’s glorious mountainside. This vast rocky terrain provides cover for jets and helicopters during aerial dogfights, or a height advantage for infantry and tanks.

Iberian Offensive: Sprint through Gibraltar’s winding streets, stalk its alleyways, dodge heavily-armored tanks, and tear through buildings – this map has many ways to secure a tactical advantage.

Empire State: Infantry-only map featuring explosive engagements spanning alleys, rooftops, and the iconic streets of Brooklyn, New York.

Modes

  • Conquest : Conquest is Battlefield’s signature all-out war experience, where tanks, jets, and attack helicopters turn the tides of battle. Two teams fight to control multiple key objectives spread across the map. Holding more objectives steadily drains enemy lives, and the match ends when one team’s lives hit zero.
  • Closed Weapons Breakthrough: An intense, objective-driven mode where attackers work to secure sectors and push the front line forward, while defenders fight to hold or retake ground and drain the attackers’ limited lives – this time with the addition of class-locked weapons.
  • Breakthrough : Breakthrough is Battlefield at its most intense – focused, objective-driven combat where every move matters. Two teams face off with clear roles: attackers work to secure sectors and push the front line forward, while defenders fight to hold or retake ground and drain the attackers’ limited lives.
  • Domination : Capture and hold multiple control points to outpace the enemy, and don’t hold back – this mode moves fast.
  • King of the Hill : Squads battle to control a single capture point. The more time ticks down, the fiercer the fight gets.
  • Rush : Arm and defuse. A team of attackers and defenders battle for control of a series of Military Communication systems (M-COMs). Attackers have to plant explosives at each system and prevent defenders from diffusing them before they detonate. When all M-COMs are destroyed, the fight moves to the next sector. The match ends when all M-COM systems are destroyed, or the attackers run out of lives.
  • Squad Deathmatch : Grab a gun and squad up for a fast-paced, close-quarters, deathmatch. Four squads compete for victory with one simple objective: First to reach the kill target wins.

Open Beta Tips

  • Train for the battle– create or join a match with bots using Breakthrough Initiation
  • Tailor your controls to match your playstyle—from a variety of different button and keyboard layouts to advanced weapon and attachment customization
  • You can spawn on your squad members when they are not in active combat.
  • Test out the four classes to discover how each one brings something unique to the battle.
  • Try out a new gadget—each one brings a new dimension to combat. For example, deployable cover is a reinforced ballistic shield that temporarily protects you from bullets and other projectiles.

Excited to try this.

For those that preloaded, you can launch it already to compile shaders, configure graphic settings and controls. Save yourself that 5 minutes when the game actually goes live :stuck_out_tongue:
