So some of the good is that this is probably the smoothest battlefield game I’ve ever experienced I haven’t gone so I’m playing on Xbox but I haven’t experienced a single game breaking bug compared to any previous battlefield game.
In terms of gameplay it’s really smooth and really addictive weapon balancing is seems to be very good squads work quite well. I haven’t squashed up with anyone or any friends yet even with no comms they are still playing the team game and many still play the objective.
Funnily enough this is the slowest battlefield they say in the franchise however it feels faster and I think that might be due to the sliding mechanic but it doesn’t feel like cod it does have a very short TTK though.
The biggest issue I currently have is that servers seem to populate with bots a lot, so some of the matchmaking needs some tweaking.
Secondly, I really hope they bring back some large scale maps like Caspian Border or any new maps as long as they have space between control points.
I don’t play much of the CQC modes but I have never enjoyed them. I’m more of a Conquest, Rush kind of guy and love me some infantry gameplay, and this delivers. Despite playing all my time solo matchmaking I am having a jol and have a had a few tense moments.
Overall this seems like a very big shift towards “the goat” as you say and feels really good. It may not be BF4 but it is a new game with new generation but it is VERY competent and I can see myself spending copious amounts of time in.
Oh, I should add that I don’t see any option for server browser in its traditional form though you can browse servers for game modes. The experience seems good from a latency perspective and see many of the pings to be sub 140ms and I appear to be matched with many other Saffers via auto matching.
And I’m in Xbox so the experience could differ on pc but I doubt it.
I went ahead and bought. Small maps feel like cod. Bigger maps feel more like battlefield. I had one 64 player game where the hitreg was broken. Nothing died. And I wasn’t the only one moaning. The other 5’ish games were stellar. Fun. Tactics work. Gunplay is rewarding. A mix of players between those that play the class/objective and those that are headless chickens. 140+ ping and leading shots work great.
I have whipped out the good mouse and the no compromise keyboard. I’m almost sold on it. Now to squad up people I know.
Lastly,
What
The
Fuck
with the UI. It’s designed for a crèche. UX guy should be thrown on server support for a year as punishment.
Yeah the servers filling up with bots is annoying, though I’ve seen leaving the game and rejoining another queue generally gets you a full server. That being said some bots are OP haha.
UI… yeah, not the greatest. Especially when looking to apply a EXP boost, or joining friends or adding friends.
Server Browser, think we need some SA “experiences”, in BF2042 there was always a Kyberstrike server which was basically just all the maps, normal xp, nothing special. so that acted like a SA server for us.
So someone needs to do the same with BF6 for us I think.
Apparently everyone that owns the game can have one persisted server up? maybe I should test that.
Also yes, can confirm, game feels great to play, I already have 16hours which is wild for this dad.
Played the first mission of the campaign, its not trash, its ok(that’s the IGN review btw, they only reviewed the Campaign of a largely Multiplayer game ). so might finish it over time when no one is online to join.
I wish you could sort of choose like with BF 2042, play bot matches or against humans.
I guess those will come out as people learn how to use Portal or custom experiences more. I’ve played around a bit with trying to set them up in the portal website, but best I can do is team deathmatch. Other tries I either spawn under the map or all at once on the same spot.
Hopefully people will share their experience codes so you can self host.
I see their is an option to download the Portal SDK, but thats above my skill.
Yeah would much rather join a partial full/empty server than populate it with bots.
Also, once you’ve played a game and it progresses to the next, the time it takes is just ludicrous. Been sitting on 14/16 players for about 5 minutes. Why can we just start th game.
So I tried creating a default settings Portal experience with full map rotation so we could have a SA server but alas, “Global Game Quota Exceeded”. So I guess we wait till they add more capacity.
Is this a sign that there’s been a shift towards satisfying an “instant gratification generation”? Surely increasing the timer would make more sense. Hell, give it a huge time increase or remove it entirely.
I think they really need to focus on server connections and matachmaking.
You’re either always joining an ongoing match, and when it ends, the next game takes ages to load and you can almost always be sure you’re playing with 25-50% bot population on the server. And you can be certain that if you stay in the queue you likely won’t play with the same players. It is as though each match ends and throws everyone out and does matchmaking again.
Once a game loads, I just quit back to menu/lobby and look for a new game, it’s quicker and more effective than loading the next game in the queue.
Also, who thought that the visual effect of “glitching” your character, gun, skin, etc. when changing or swapping between anything was a good idea? The time it takes to perform a simple action is dumb!
I’m just happy I dont have to launch the game twice like I had to do with BF 2042. Every single time I wanted to play, I would launch the game, it would either get stuck on a black or the satellite screen without an overlay, I would then quit and relaunch the game and it would work…same for my son too. Even re-installed Windows too.
