Hey folks, if you find my less active than usual, that’s because I’m covering LG InnoFest in Korea for MyBroadband. The timezone difference is a real killer. Cathay Pacific is a pretty good airline. Seats on the flights from SA to Hong Kong are a bit small, but the food is great.

Really sorry to hear that, @Solitude. Hope it all turns out well.

You’re omitting the bit where the hostesses are rather attractive.

Maybe. However, I predict that unless Eskom/government pulls up its socks quickly, more affluent communities are simply going to to start producing their own electricity.

Our complex is already handling our day-time load with solar (edit: and we’re like, a super middle-class complex). Solar Africa did our installation at their cost and is charging us a per-kWh rate below what Eskom charges. In the event that Eskom screws the pooch entirely, we would likely ask Solar Africa to do a complete off-grid system for us.

More body corporates and home owners’ associations will do this, and neighbourhoods without HOAs will quickly establish them to make projects like this happen if the time comes…

Effectively, electricity generation is slowly being privatised despite government dragging its feet on IPP regulations.

Once the see-saw starts tipping in that direction, Eskom will be well and truly screwed as there will be fewer and fewer people in the country that want to buy its product.

Ah flip, I’m sick!
Coughing, blocked runny nose, fever, sore back, tired.
Not sure if it was that lady that sneezed all over me last week or if it was the tick that bit me 2 weeks ago…

It’s unlikely to be the tick that long after the bite, but get tested immediately.

Lyme disease is apparently rare in South Africa, but it’s no joke. Tick bite fever isn’t a day at the beach either.

I haven’t been sick in a year now… I guess it helps being super careful with the baby.

Morning people! Cape Town is great this morning! Nice light haze around the mountain and a light, refreshing breeze. Almost time to hit the road for me and take my nice drive through the vineyards.

oh my FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF-ing shit! so when we started our rush move and “office cleanse/file purge” in feb, i told the boss we needed to scan files properly before throwing them out. Nut no i was toild we dont have time to do it properly and the tea lady will do the scanning and we must just save everything. fast forward to today he was looking for a file we threw out but scanned and going through the scan he notices that there are pages missing cause the bright spark who scanned the file did not scan both sides of the double sided pages… no its an issue

this man is going to drive me to drink and murder

@Wyvern this is you but also not you. You wouldn’t turn around until every bit of the map was covered.

Yea Tafels is ok for lunch, but not great - service is a bit lacking at those. But for a special night out Cassia is amazing

Same goes for the De oude Welgemoed Devils Peak - they have the bistro and the fancy restaurant, the fancy one is really good.
