So much this! It’s a farce. And it’s creating an entire generation of young South Africans with very poor educational fundamentals who naively now believe that they are ready and equipped to take on the world because they “have a matric!”
And then they come crashing back to reality when they fail out of first year tertiary institutions (after spending most of the year protesting about some or other kak anyway!), can’t get decent jobs and have little hope of future employment.
And then they get bitter and twisted and start pulling out every one of the “oh woe is me, I’m so deprived, it’s not fair, my life is ruined, it’s everyone and everything else’s fault” excuses. And all because their “fantastic matric results” created this false expectation of reality.
Dude I have no words for this.
I am so dissapointed - I actually laughed at the news last night when they said the amount of students who passed is a little less than last year.
Your family are certainly a lot closer to potential targets than we are here, but I reckon the whole planet is on tenterhooks right now because of this tosser.
Until Trump and his MAGA cronies (and the same goes for every world leader and their myopic followers I guess) are forced to put their own children onto the frontlines of the wars they seem so eager to wage, nothing will change.
He’ll continue to condemn the actions of the Iranians. They’ll continue their “Death to 'Merica!” rhetoric. Before long many more sons and daughters of average citizens on both sides will die.
And then the politicians will send out more stupid tweets and will offer up more pointless “thoughts and prayers”, and more 'death to the infidels", before getting back onto to their private planes, flying off to their resorts in Florida and Hawaii, and ordering up another bucket of KFC and a load of Happy Meals.
I was forced to spend my last teenage year and the first year of my twenties on the Namibian/Angolan border, and in the dusty streets of riot torn Soweto. I was one of the few lucky national servicemen - I never saw a single moment of actual combat bar one small petrol bomb thrown ineffectively against the side of our patrol vehicle. And yet every single day of those 21 months of active duty after basic training I crapped myself. Every single day was utterly terrifying. Slinging that stupid shooty-shooty death stick over my shoulder every day before going out on another patrol never made me feel safe. Just the opposite really.
Many were not as fortunate as me. Let’s just say that bullets and bombs and the human body do not mix well. Not at all. Until we can make declarations of war conditional on the declarer and his/her children being put in to the first row of soldiers it won’t change.
To put thousands of your citizens through the horror of war, even the ones that choose to do so voluntarily, simply to stroke your ego and to distract from your utter failings as a leader is the despicable, selfish act of a certifiable megalomaniac. The fucker, and all of the so-called leaders like him, need to be rounded up and dropped off on an isolated island in the Atlantic Ocean. Let them fight among themselves over who gets to use the fresh guano to keep themselves warm.
It was an interesting read. Never been through anything like that, but I expect what we’re all about to go through on this planet will be peanuts to that past century… Hopefully none of us have to see the front line.
It feels like the chess pieces are being moved around quite quickly right now… I’m happy to say I just read Canada pulled their forces out of Iraq ‘temporarily’.
@Wyvern - I’ll still be with the clinic portion of the place I’ve been at, and I think I have a place to stay, so I will be around for a while still Thanks for asking.
My dad hates the army with a passion. He also served in Angola and his best friend was shot dead right next to him. Later on my dad was supposed to get medals but he refused to take them. So they actually got a court order or something that forced my dad to take the medals.
My december paycame through on like the 15’th December but I’m still playing catch up from previous months which makes the Dec/Jan period especially long for me. As a result, I suspect Feb/March is going to be catch up for this, and then April/May will be catch up for that, and so on, and so on.
