I knew that was coming!!! :rofl:

I never answered the poll: born, bred and raised Afrikaans, 100%. Then I went to Pommie land for 4 years, came back, married a very classy and sophisticated young lady who is born, bred and raised English, 100%.

It was quite the shock for her as when she wrote Afrikaans in matric she exclaimed: NEVER AGAIN WILL I UTTER ANOTHER WORD OF AFRIKAANS! Then she married me!

I’m born and bred Afrikaans, but my parents taught me some English words early on. Then I attended a dual medium high school. Simple grade 8 algebra will tell you that if you’re in a dual medium school, and only speak 50% of the languages, you’ll find that nearly half the girls are behind a communication gap! So I brushed up real good, and promptly learned that it was not the English holding me back.
