I know - I was jesting.
I know. And a very valid concern, sure. Thanks.
It must be really bad in the Cape this time of the year. August and September are the worst for me every year here in Joburg. The wind and the dust and then all the pollen and I just struggle constantly.
I’m telling ya. I generally suffer from hayfever for as long as I can remember. Very little to nothing helps, it just has to run its course. Watery, itchy and sensitive eyes, sensitive sinuses, runny nose and congestions. Urgh, it’s the pits.
It’s the canola, my hay-fever is in overdrive as well. Old article but Canola Fields Western Cape - Secret Cape Town
Booked for a covid test today, as far as I know Discovery coveres for a few of these a year, so this will be my first.
I’d double check with your Discovery liaison or HR folk before going to get tested. I was told about 3 months ago that they only cover the cost of tests that are positive and require subsequent treatment, or are negative if they have been requested by a GPs referral.
Presumably it’s supposed to stop every hypochondriac and folk with a runny nose using up test kits for no real reason.
In your case it may just need to be a simple telephonic consultation with your GP or one of Discovery’s virtual consultation calls to get that referral.
Of course, things may have changed since then.
I’ve never gotten those to work. I tried it 4 times and never get feedback from one of the consulting doctors.
Yeah, spoke to my GP and was asked to go get tested nevertheless and to collect a referral from their office. They don’t want covid cases in the rooms.
Test came back negative. Got a friendly sms:
Hi Shane your test is negative regards richard
Unsure who Richard is but he’s quite polite.
@DarthMol, and any other under 35s, have you seen this:
You don’t have to hold a Discovery product or be a Discovery medical aid member to sign up for it.
Late last week, Discovery started sending emails to members of its medical aid in the 18-34 age group.
The message advised members to register and book their vaccination on the Covid-19 Vaccination Navigator.
Discovery said available booking slots for people in this age group to receive their vaccinations will start from 1 September.
https://www.discovery.co.za/d2hp/
Bookings are already full past the 5th of September, but with the government registration only starting from the 1st, you may still be able to get an earlier slot.
@Pamar just got a booking slot for the 4th, so it’s working.
Paul, your COVID-19 vaccination site is confirmed at 1 Discovery Place on 04/09/2021 from 12:00 onwards.
Cool! Thanks for the heads up. Got a mail from Discovery a while about booking from September so this must be a new development.
I never got anything past - you have been registered, which was weeks ago now. There are a few places I wanted to do a walk-in at but so far have not found time, work being busy
Another win for eastern cape
Also got a booking on the 4th. But realised this morning I might need to change it as it’s my daughter’s party later that day! (should’ve confirmed with the wife before booking)
I am still stunned by Susan Vosloo’s snert
Saddened that she is my aunt and she has managed to piss off a big part of the country with her statements, and worse the argument she caused between the parental units. Cos mum sides with her. . . .
I’m so tired of anti-vaxxers. Called them idiots at MyBroadband yesterday and some people were unhappy about that.
That just goes to show the quality of that forum these days
There’s some good people there too
But yes, more anti-vaxxers than one would expect.
Real question, not sarcasm. Do you guys consider someone anti-vaxxer if they are hesitant about this specific vaccination?
