Defiance is/was an MMO set in the world of the Defiance TV series.
Personally, I really enjoyed the 2 seasons of the TV series and can seriously recommend it to anyone who enjoys Sci Fi and post apocalyptic stories. I found the character development very satisfying and the twists very good.
I played the MMO back in the day and really enjoyed it. It is sort of a shooter/FPS/MMO in an open world. The characters you meet are actually from the series and the voice acting for those characters are done by the actors from the series as well.
Trion is now releasing an “updated” version of the MMO called Defiance 2050. From all current reports it is not much of an update with the issues of being hosted on a much less robust network infrastructure, causing a lot of lag in its current state.

Personally, I am in the process of downloading it and will give it a go once done. On my rural radio tower internet that will be in a day or so.
Day 1: so far the game is pretty much exactly the same as its predecessor except for the introduction of classes, which the older Defiance did not have. As someone who loves playing healers, playing a class that pops down an auto healing robot that follows me around and heals everyone closeby is a great addition to the game.
The gameplay is plagued by system lockups and everyone has them, hopefully it is being worked on for the next patch.
Fun game so far. The graphics are aged and the animations are nothing like modern games like Warframe. Still, good stories to be had.
