Dirt Rally 2.0 [MEWRL]

You will notice all the ones I screwed up is night stages. sigh, its like my lights detect a night stage and it magnetises to trees and rocks.

side note, on the last stage I was fed up, was about to alt F4 when I knocked my lights early on on a 12km night stage. so I said screw this, I’m going to cheat, pushed up the brightness and drove. then I felt bad and dropped the brightness a bit, I could still see, kept dropping it every so often until about 0.90 and still could see, although now it was starting to feel a bit dark again.
This leads me to wonder if my settings wasn’t maybe too dark this whole time? Question, if you bust your lights on this stage, can you still see? coz I could see absolutely nothing until I adjusted my brightness.

Not a big fan of you right now :upside_down_face:

Will have to run the stage to check but generally on the Dusk and Sunset stages without lights at all I can still generally see enough to mostly be able to follow the road. Even so, I do still have to drive a little more cautiously. The exception is when the route goes through heavy tree areas. New Zealand, USA, Scotland in parts are very dark.

Full Night stages are much, much harder though. Generally those are slow to a Sunday drive speeds in most parts.

(I’ve never thought to turn the monitor brightness up though. :bulb: Might use that “tip” in future. Consider it low grade night vision glasses that my character carries as part of his standard racing gear for night stages. )

for me on the New England dusk stages, if I go through these I can literally see nothing, if there is some gaps in the trees I can just barely make out the road.

On one of the New England stages, I also broke my lights. I could see enough to just make out where the road was. I’m not sure if my lights were completely gone or not, or whether it was a brighter, night stage. I think denser forest stages like Poland would be pitch black.

I actually have a video of driving Poland with no lights. So romantic, driving by moonlight

Give it a go!

Also been putting together a tough old challenge to get through November. You’ll hate it. :smiling_imp:

Damn, I’ve been tuning cars and trying to get a feel for these stages. Damn, they’re fast and painful. I haven’t finished one in testing as yet.

You need the fear of no reset, to get you through

I had a few minor offs. Quest 2 was flat, so I pancaked it. R5 in Scotland is glorious. So many times, you coming down the hill, flat out, and then you need to go through 2 or 3 turns that are progressively more acute, that ends in a nice round hairpin, and you don’t even need to handbrake, cos the way you flung the car, at that speed, perfectly danced through the corner, from sheer inertia. Logs are terrifying too, because there are quite a few turns, where the logs are on the inside, right when you need to turn in. So you need to be brave to go through there with any sort of speed :ok_hand: :raised_hands:

I spit in the face of no reset!

Did grab a couple of decent pics before this, so yay me!

Winner Winner!

It’s official - there is a demon super alien amongst us, and their name is @Boogey!

A fitting final result in our last event of the season means @Boogey retains his MEWRL Dirt Rally Championship title!

And honestly, if I could I would get you a trophy!

6 months, 12 rallies, 144 stages, 16 drivers and it all came down to the last event or two to decide the Championship podium.

So, big congratulations again to :trophy: :1st_place_medal: @Boogey. Huge props to :2nd_place_medal: @aldyr for putting up such a solid fight too. Claiming the final place on the Championship podium, a top job salute to :3rd_place_medal: @LazyDemoni, finishing his debut MEWRL Dirt Rally season on a high!

Solid Honourable Mentions to P4 @the9avenger9, whose to and fro with Lazy all season sadly came a little unstuck in Scotland. But still a phenomenal season to finish P4 with almost double the points of our other Achievers Grande: joint P5 winners @Dragonic and @Beo. Special mention and bonus tip of the hat for Beo too for driving the full season on his Xbox with a controller.

Rest of the season Top 10 were myself, @WarRack101, @Munage, and @murfle whose regular single stage efforts were enough to secure the Champion P10 spot!

Manly fist bumps and much appreciation to all the drivers who took part in this years’ DR2 Championship with me whether you were there for every stage of every event, or just once. All those already mentioned, and then @czc, @TheeAlekai, @oltman, @jaydogg86, @Deadlypinecone, and @SlinX.

This was probably the last full season of regular Dirt Rally events with points and tables and all the bells and whistles that I’m going to do for a while, but I will be back here soon with a little season of filler events to get you through the next month or so - stay tuned for that.

Until then, thanks again for getting dirty with me

It was awesome fun! Not my debut season though, I did do last year’s as well.

It got quite close with The Avenger, and there was that split second win in Sweden. I think he had a mishap in the Group B event, which helped me gain some momentum.

Every event was a good time, and I loved the car variety. I probably wouldn’t have played Dirt 2.0 as much without this fun Race Club. Thanks for organising it, and for posting such great writeups @GregRedd

The November Nightmare

I promised I’d set something up to really challenge Dirt Rallyists after our full championship season ended, so here it is: The November Nightmare!

Four events, each with just four stages to complete. One week per event using any car in the R5 class - use the same one for all four rallies or change your car each time. Here’s the challenge’s settings:

  • Assists are disabled.
  • Cockpit Cameras are required.
  • Unexpected Moments are active.
  • Hardcore Damage is active.

Oh, and a few more important details you should be aware of before you start:

  • There is no Service Stop during the rally. There is only the standard one ahead of the start so you can do tires, setup changes, and repairs if you need to after any Shakedown runs.
  • The four stages are each of the locations’ four long stages.
  • All four stages in each event are night stages. (You didn’t think I called it The Nightmare for no reason, did you?)

I’m not a completely heartless GM - I have set the weather for each of the stages to be dry with clear skies. And I’ve also removed all Surface Degradation from all of the stages throughout each event.

The Challenge will run through November with each event only available for 7 days. Start and End times are the same as our normal events: starts just after midnight on the Sunday, ends just before midnight on the following Saturday.

Your first Weekly Nightmare starts on Halloween Eve in Monaco this coming Sunday, 30 October at 00:15.

Here’s the routes for all four November Nightmare events.

Go get dirty in the dark!

Damn son!

I was keen on this until I read that each stage is dark themed.

I’m glad is not 12 stages anymore. Back when I was only doing 2 clubs, it was fine. But lately, I’ve been doing so many clubs, it seems the trend is 3 - 5 stage clubs. Although, they seem to measure it in total sectors. So somewhere between 16 and 24 sectors in total. It doesn’t require a mammoth amount of time. Make it easier by adding service areas. Remove service areas, and it can be more challenging.
