Have a good one

@Beo how is the wife?

Also I wish I knew how to treat imposter syndrome, all I do is tackle one task at a time

Sometimes imposter syndrome is just a consequence of feeling overwhelmed. It may not even be caused by the actual thing you are feeling inadequate over. You wife is in the hospital, you’re in a foreign country at short notice… Just remember that you are in Dubai because someone went “we need you here” so clearly they hold you in high regard. Believe them.

I often feel imposterish (“I don’t know that” or “I’m not qualified for that” or “how did I end up here”). I got to a point where I realised that the people taking the jobs I didn’t apply to or the ones already doing the jobs that I wish I had often know less than I do, or are doing a terrible job of it. I got to a point where I understood that knowing what I don’t know and what I can’t do, also means knowing what I do know and what I could do. It also means I know what I can learn and figure out. And so what if I don’t know XYZ in detail? At least I know that it exists and that it may be necessary for the job, and there’s an internet’s worth of information available to learn how to do it.

@Wyvern You definitely know more than you think you do. You are willing to learn and willing to say “help” or “I don’t know this yet, but give me time”.

@Beo take a deep breath and then beat that imposter over the head with self confidence. You can’t do everything, nobody can, but you can do enough and you can learn the rest.

Much love t you both, especially Beo. You got this.

Yeah, it really wasn’t worth mentioning. Flying in today, driving straight to the coast from the airport. Family day tomorrow, wedding on Saturday, flying back Sunday at lunchtime. Sadly, no time for anything in between.

Im just pulling your leg, enjoy Yzerfontein - pack warm stuff, the wind is silly in the cape at the moment and there it might be worse. We are experiencing summer - so during the day you die and at night you freeze

At night you freeze? What arcane magic is this? We’re dying of heat in the evenings as well…
