Morning all.

Damn, there’s a chill in the air. Winter is coming.

Morning people of the palace

Drove to work in my dad’s Kuga, so I will give that the automatic makes the travel a lot easier… but the size of the bloody car means that I had to try 4 parking spaces at work to find one I could fit the car in and get out

Yeah, not that I have a big car (sedan) but I have noticed this with the size and density of the underground parking in the city, well Newlands. My parking area is on the 3rd basement level. Between the pillars and tight corners it’s such a schlep.

And the roads this side. . . .
So narrow! I get panic attacks in the big car!

Good morning everyone.

Yeah some parking lots are dodgy. When we used to do work in Durban and stayed at the Blue Waters Hotel you had to specify the size of the car and hope they had space for it. All their underground parkings were random sizes.

Here is a thing I have noticed of late with me and many of my work colleagues: we are starting to pay financially more and more for the privilege of working at home.

For some of them it is becoming a real issue to balance the benefits and the cost of generator fuel/inverters with travel costs and road/office stress.

For me it is worth it still, I work in KZN, the company office is in PTA. I made a promise to be here with my kids and family from the start, so the extra cost to work at home is fine with me.

haha yeah, we have to prebook parking bays before coming in and you have only one option for the size of the bay, random.

Our company provides us with one of those small DC UPS devices to keep the internet up. Granted, I only have my Macbook to work from, but that’s fine. I come into the office occasionally out of respect for others but it is not compulsory.

Greets to the peeps.

Imagine you go to turn the tap on, in the shower and it comes off in your hand.

Captain Haddock feels you. I went to sleep last night with no water, woke up this morning to no electricity.

Nothing like standing in the shower kaalhol, trying to block water gushing out the wall, to encourage you to learn how to fix it

That happened to me. Sorry to the landlord that ended up with the tap superglued to the spindle.

EDIT: Also should have gone to Port Alfred this week.

Can I go back to bed please?

So far alone at the office, if no one comes in, I will go home early and work from home.

Permission granted. Put dog at computer to take any calls while you’re busy with more important things

See the plan is to crochet if I work from home, currently waiting on work for me to do - I have just been assigned to help out our PMO side of the office, so yay, just waiting on training

Here is this hilarious line in a letter from my daughter’s school about a civvies’ day: “Parents we compel you to ensure that your child/ward adheres to the above dress code.”

  1. No comma after “Parents”
  2. Maybe someone should ask the English teacher to write these things. They should look up the meaning of the word “compel”.

Also in the letter along with so many non sensical rules is this gem: “No skinny fit jeans for boys”. My mind boggles at the reasoning behind that one.

I mean its kinda difficult to find anything else these days. I had to resort to stretchy fabric jeans just so something would fit me.
