News breaking over night that Ubisoft will not be attending E3 2023. This just a month or so after they confirmed that they would be attending. (Ubisoft is a mess, but that’s a different discussion). They’re now saying that they’ll hold a separate Ubisoft Forward Live event on 12 June in Los Angeles instead.
They now join Microsoft and Nintendo, who both confirmed earlier this year that they would not have a dedicated presence at E3 this year. Microsoft recently announced that they will be hosting their Summer Games Festival on 11 June in LA, and that that would be followed by a special Starfield Direct presentation. Nintendo still need to confirm anything specific for the Summer event period.
Sony are the other big player that are yet to confirm whether they’ll be attending E3 2023 or not.
Samuel Tolbert / Windows Central’s take
This is not shocking at all. E3 is continually having difficulties in seeming organized and structured, as well as finding huge problems in getting business partners when gaming companies can just show their content with their own online show or as part of something like Summer Game Fest. I won’t be too surprised if E3 2023 ends up canceled outright.
