For anyone interested, the guys that made Star Control 2 are working on making “their” sequel to it (apparently Star Control 3 didn’t count). Due to some legal issues with Stardock (who now owns the name “Star Control”), this will instead be called “Free Stars: Children of Infinity”.
I was a huge fan of this back in the day and even though it looks like it might just be a revamp of the old game on a new engine with a new story, I’m still going for it. Thought I’d share it here in case anyone else is feeling nostalgic for my early days of gaming.

Also, the Star Control 2 is available for free on Steam, but if you search the internet a bit, it is possible to find the HD version with voice overs.
