The recent updates really having been quite thin. Game Pass seems to be losing more games than it’s gaining. Just many shifts of titles to lower tiers. I guess everyone knew it wasn’t sustainable and the executive shake-up earlier in the year and studio closures really are quite telling.

Agree, to some degree. There are definite signs of the impact of the recent layoffs and restructuring of the Xbox Studios. And there’s also not been nearly enough value seen in the Game Pass libraries of the Bethesda and Activision buyouts - there’s entire franchises that should in my opinion be permanently available on all Game Pass tiers.
As to the value of the Game Pass subscription, my rough value estimation method since the last price increase is making me seriously consider the options once my current subscription runs out. Basically, each round of releases should, again imo, have at least one AAA/AAAA title from within the last 4-5 years in it. So at least two such titles per month. Alternatively, a month should have at least one new AAA Day One release from an Xbox Studio developer.
I think it is possible that this specific batch is a little weak on the heavy hitters because Xbox may be holding onto some things for gamescom, which runs next week through until Sunday, 30 August. The next Coming Soon to Game Pass announcement should happen two days later on Tuesday, 2 September. We’ll see then if my hopium-based suspicions are right.

Near the end of the 21st century, the political powers that brokered a Transatlantic Returns Treaty, promising the repatriation of African artifacts from museums. Good old fashioned diplomacy was working… until it wasn’t. An amendment switched up the terms and conditions of which objects were to be returned. Museums, now knowing that only publicly displayed artifacts would be given back, were slowly removing artifacts from public display.
You’ve got 70 of these artifacts to reclaim, all of which exist in real-life and are of huge cultural, historical, and spiritual significance to the people they were taken from.
Teamwork Makes The Heist Work
It all starts with a troublesome little brother who, yeah, gets you into all sorts of messes. But thankfully, as Nomali, you’ll meet more reliable crew members from different African countries. Recruit people from the classic hacker to… your prim and proper grandma? Don’t worry, grandma pulls her weight.
Case the Joint
Plan ahead to lay the groundwork for a beautiful masterpiece of an escape. You’ll be using the latest Africanfuturist technology to scope a museum. Check the getaway route, fiddle with puzzles and obstacles, and find spots to optimise the help of the right teammates.
Get In. Get Out.
Once you’ve set the stage carefully and the artifact is sitting all pretty (looking quite not-stolen, but no worries, you’re gonna fix that ASAP), this is the moment to perform. Plucking an artifact from its resting spot triggers the alarm, and with Nomali’s flow-based parkour abilities, escaping should feel like you’re in the fun, montage part of a heist movie. But if you slacked on the planning phase, you’re gonna pay for it!

When the big price hikes happened, I had already switched to Linux on my desktop, so I let my sub lapse. Haven’t had a reason to think about resubbing for my Xbox, even though I am now actively planning to dualboot for the new Call of Duty and Solidworks.
Solidworks. Worst game ever. Crashes constantly and feels like work.

Lots of mainstays leaving GamePass now. Like Dead Cells! It’s been on there forever. And CP2077 was a great addition and I bet lots of people played it on their GP sub. I’m still subscribed, but I highly doubt I’ll stay for long…

Happy that Dragonwilds is coming to Gamepass, did want to try it.
There have been a lot of times where Gamepass just had nothing on it for me, hek for most of the year and last year I did not have a sub anymore, this is just normal, there aren’t going to be a lot of hard hitters on gamepass until closer to next year when Fable comes out, maybe in Oct when Gears of War E-Day comes out as well, but yeah its going to be stale for a while until the GTA 6 period passes.

Here are all the rumored changes reportedly coming to Xbox Game Pass in 2027:
- New games will no longer launch on Game Pass on day one.
- Day-one releases will reportedly be removed between February and April 2027.
- An ad-supported Game Pass tier will cost $12.99 per month.
- An ad-free Game Pass subscription will cost $19.99 per month or $239.99 annually.
- A separate Game Pass library tier with online multiplayer will cost $14.99 per month.
- Online multiplayer will also be available separately for $10.99 per month.
- Cloud gaming will no longer be included with a standard Game Pass subscription.
- Cloud streaming will become a $5.99 add-on that includes 25 hours of playtime.
- A family plan will be available as an additional $5.99 monthly add-on.
- Microsoft will reportedly reduce the price of Game Pass by $3 following the removal of day-one games.
This could be a step in the right direction for GP. Day 1 releases are nice but not essential for this kind of service. A delayed release will be perfectly fine if it means a more affordable sub.
Also uncoupling cloud gaming helps us since we don’t have that available in SA anyway.

I wonder where the ads would be shown? Static ads in the Xbox App and on console Home Screens? Or would you have to sit through 10 minutes of streamed video ads before the game you want to play launches?
I also think dropping Day One releases would be a deal breaker for a lot of current subscribers - it is one of the main reasons I started subscribing. And I don’t think I’m the only one.
