We had this on MyGaming (rest its soul), now I wish to return it here.
Online Shooters - Framerate
Nothing hurts more when your game looks damn good, but you can’t hit a target 'cause your framerate is sh*t or is too inconsistent. RPG Shooter may be an exception to this rule.
Racing Games - Framerate/Graphics
Framerate is not as important in a racing game and pinpoint precision isn’t a requirement, so it’s a 50/50 for me here.
These are just to name a few examples.
My card is a 750Ti - 2GB, so Mediums across the board is usually is a safer bet. With textures I will push it up to High
I always try to strike a balance. I’m an incurable tinkerer, so I’ll fiddle with all the ingame setting repeatedly until I’m happy that the game looks as good as possible while running at a decent framerate. 60fps is perfectly OK for me.
I’m a graphics whore, unfortunately. Anywhere around 40fps is sufficient for me. If I can downscale some settings that don’t impact visual fidelity that much, I’ll do that, but ultra particles and shadows are usually a must for me.
Frames for online/competitive games, and anything over 60 fps for single player experiences. fortunately my card is still able to pump high+ with 60+ fps, since there aren’t any new “Crysis” type games coming out the past few years that are pushing the limits of cards.
I’ve never been too fussy on framerate. Been a console peasant for too long to have strong feelings towards framerate. As long as it’s playable and I can enjoy the game, why should I worry about 60 vs 30 fps?
I tweak to try and find a balance between Graphics and FPS, I lean more toward Graphics but FPS needs to be at least 45 or higher FPS, mind you that’s with a entry level GPU, I just feel like that a Game was made to look a certain way and If I cant play on High with settings that make the biggest visual impacts then its not worth it and I might as well play on a console.
Yea mine apparently had a bit of a default “washed out” look straight out the box. but since its one of the more popular ones and quite an “old” monitor actually it was easy to google and there are custom configs for it to make it look better
Im not too worried about either, as long as the fps is stable and doesn’t dip every now and then i am good, graphics i don’t care too much for, as long as i can see what is going on i am fine, my eyes also tend to adjust to low graphics settings, so about an hour into a game i forget that i am on low settings.
I’ve gone for a combination of both on my qnix - 1440p @ 96hz and the gpu to push the frames, if I had to choose one it would be the resolution and higher graphics settings.
