Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don't Dry

Not sure how I feel about this yet - the original LSL in the Land of the Lounge Lizards remains one of my fondest early gaming memories and none of the later installments were really any good. Probably going to go onto my Follow list at the moment and I’ll decide later whether there’s more room in my Backlog for another point-and-click adventure game that I probably won’t ever get round to playing through :expressionless:

The pre-order page for the new game indicates a release as only the general “Q4 2018” but the 15% discount offer is set to end 23 October, so that’s a fairly likely release date:

I’m glad to see they are at least sticking to a decent enough looking artwork aesthetic, and that Lefty’s Bar makes a return:

I also wonder how long it’ll be before the cries of sexism, misogyny and #LarryMustFallToo start. Too be fair, that title and the product blurb are wide open for complaints, despite being reasonably true to form for the Larry franchise:

Hey ladies, I’m back in business! My new adventure, Leisure Suit Larry - Wet Dreams Don’t Dry, takes me – whatever the route or twist of fate – from the end of the ’80s directly into the 21st century and wow, how the world has changed! While my view of the world and women from way back in the 1980s collides with modern reality harder than the breasts of a lusciously stacked blonde jogging along a beach, I’m all set to date my way across the modern world!

In a “point & click” adventure I’d call typical for the genre we mutually experience how I fall head-over-heels in love with Faith, the hot-to-trot assistant to the boss at Prune, a technology enterprise successful worldwide. Since even dating is done digitally nowadays, the first thing I have to do is to work on my score at Timber, the totally hip, can’t-get-anywhere-without-it dating app where I date women, satisfy their needs, and accordingly pick up points for my Timber profile. And whenever I get a chance in between, always briefly check out a few new bikini pix at Instacrap – the 21st century is gnarly smill!

I love how the picture behind the bar is still pixelated

The last 2 in the series were poor. Hopefully this one is back to the larry we love.

I’ll wait for reviews. I don’t see Al Lowe being attached to the project so I’m sceptical.

I have never really played LSL at all before for some reason

That is a VERY sad statement or it just gives away your age :stuck_out_tongue:

Not sure what to make of that jab

No jab, its just for my generation, LSL was THE game to try and play, having passed the disks around between friend - we clubbed together to buy it via an older brother. Photocopying the answer sheet that someone got from somewhere.

We just all think its sad if someone didnt have that experience and then playing the game, the everything

I remember trying to play it sneakily on my grandads PC when I was small =D

Hehehe almost forgiven :stuck_out_tongue:

Same. Except it was one of my very first entrepreneurial enterprises - I charged people to make copies of the disks that they had to supply  We thought we were so cool going around school saying things like “Meet you at Lefty’s” and “Ken sent me” to each other.

Video games where not big at school when I went there.
In the old days of windows NT and 95/98 networks security did not exist.
We downloaded an old version in 2002 and played it on the chaplains computer. We where boarders and he had a PC in his room. We got out of prep as we where making bookmarks for him to hand out after chapel. Once the bookmarks where made we then helped him with various other projects.
I still remember the excitement of him leaving his room so we could start playing.
