I’m telling you, Tjoerras is where it’s at people. I’m 30 minutes or less from almost everywhere of note.
Except when people have the foresight to make use of the fantastic facilities we have right here in Centurion. Then I’m within spitting distance, obviously.
Need me in PTA East? That’s a 15-20 minute drive.
Morningside? 20-25 minutes.
Sandton? 25-30 minutes.
Unless the N1 sucks, which is almost always (on weekdays) nowadays . It’s like something happened to the road surface that causes there to be an accident every day.
Yep, we also have a Burger Bistro in Clubview, if memory serves; and a Crawdaddy’s in Lyttelton/Die Hoewes. There are two Turn 'n Tenders for the meat eaters — one in Lyttelton and another in Midstream (which isn’t quite Centurion, but it basically is).
And of course there’s the Fleisherei Bistro (where we held the last MEW get-together and made the Jobeacans drive through). We had an Ed’s Diner for awhile, but the venue sucked so it either moved or shut down.
If you’re looking for that authentic hipster Cape Town / Joburg experience we have a few non-franchised places that are pretty good. Pizzeria Milan in Eldoraigne and Hemingways in Clubview, for starters.
There’s also the culinary school in Hennopspark which I have yet to try.
Ninja Edit: PTA East has some great restaurants, though. Many more highly rated options to choose from than ol’ Tjoerras.
Pizzeria Milan is quite nice sometimes, but they only have 6 tables in there. Well, last time when I was there… which was very long ago.
But yeah, Centurion is very nice and central, which is why I chose to move here in the first place. Working from home helps with being flexibility in location.
The biggest issue I had with Centurion was the lack of proper ADSL and fibre, which is ironic because Telkom’s head office is located here. The fastest ADSL available at the time when I got fibre, was only 4mbps. Luckily that is all in the past now.
