Quick update: We read that you can claim your expedition rewards on other saves at the Quicksilver vendor. So you will be able to get your Normandy on your “main” save.
Finally finished the expedition tonight. It was close on 15–20 hours to finish all 5 phases in the end.
Was going to say this, I read when I started the game that all Expedition rewards will be available on any other save. And your Expedition save will change to a normal save after the event.
I started last night and I’m on the last part of Phase 1 now.
5 years ago today, on 9th August 2016, we welcomed the first No Man’s Sky travellers into the vast universe that our tiny team had created. 16 updates later and we reflect on the epic journey we and our ever-growing community have been on and give a hint to what the 17th update has in store. FRONTIERS - coming soon!
Update 3.6: Frontiers is out, and honestly, I’m gobsmacked at the amount of content that players are getting again. Fronteirs looks absolutely immense with enough content for a whole new game, or at the very least, a full-blown expansion DLC. But nope. As before Frontiers goes to all players for free, as a normal patch and update. This time the big addition is Alien Settlements!
I think i have said this before, but kudos to the developers, like seriously, for the amount of effort they have put in this game to make it live up to what they promised but had not delivered upon release is really great, you don’t see it everyday and I hope they continue on like this, it would be nice if we could get enough people here interested then we could get us a nice planet of MEW, and chill together.
I only started playing NMS about 4 months ago, so I really can’t tell what of the things I’m seeing are new because of the patch or just new to Avatar!
This was a helpful article on what can be done in co-op. Turns out there is a lot of cool stuff (including designing and holding your own races!) It also confirms that you can do expeditions together.
I’d also like to visit it. Given the cast size of the game, not sure how I’d find it… I really want to get back into this game, preferably in VR! I just remember the ship controls being very weird in VR. I’ll see if there’s a way to get around that.
Yeah I also remember the first time I tried it in VR the controls felt a bit weird. I will try it out again some time. And also see how my PC holds up now after all the updates. Hopefully there has been some VR Performance updates.
Well, from experience I can confirm that you start in the same system as the person whose game you join, IF you start a new save.
Then you can log in at any time and continue your build without others being logged in. You just play from the “co-op” save and keep building and exploring like you want.
I suspect that if you join a game with an existing save that you can teleport to either the original host’s base or their local space station. Worth a shot.
I say all of this without reading @DarthMol’s article!
Now the question is, who do we join on? We don’t need everyone to join at one time, but we should pick one person so we can all be together in the same place in the universe. Also once more than one person is in the same area, we can then just join on whoever is there, doesn’t need to have just one “host” like other multiplayer games.
And after everyone is in the same place we can then join and leave as we please, however if you want to be able to be part of the same party then you a have to join on someone, or else they look like strangers
I am basing this off of when I played it a lot with my friends this is basically what we did.
